HOLY FUCKED UP THREAD B-MAN!

I hear ya, brother.  Kinda strange how it turned into UK vs. USA, at least among the people who were brave enough to publicly chime in on this, as it's pretty difficult just to talk with someone/people making such bizarre remarks (Paul Waines'), that warranted the removal of an entire thread.  Anyway, thanks for the support!  USA for the common sense win!  8)

"Burying the hatchet" has nothing to do with this thread, as (in hindsight) we agreed to disagree from the beginning.  Do we need some special bell like the end of a boxing match or something to signal that this thread is over, and no more responses are allowed?  I would be fine with that.

Happy now?  Now I'm apparently not a "big boy", since I don't know (what you consider) proper forum "etiquette?"  You sure are the master of great, witty little banter.  ;)

I sort of lean towards Brandon's take on this; there are things you think and things you say and then there are things you write for posterity... Meant to be funny or not blowing up instituitional facilities ain't funny. Actually pretty dumb to write it out in a public forum.  The 007s are probably looking at your files as I type.  You know they have algorythms that comb the Internet looking for this type of stuff..  The rest of the back and forth is on the respective parties...

This is a discussion I had several time with friends. I believe anything (politically correct or not) is suitable for making humor. Making jokes about blowing up institutional facilities can be funny, actually blowing up -or thinking of- institutional facilities is not. Accident jokes can be funny, going to a funeral and making fun of the family involved in an actual accident is not. You get the idea...

No, the statements that were made would definitely have warranted further investigation.  If you're not able to see that then that's your problem.  Like I said, you're one of the best with the great, witty little banter.  ;)  Thanks for chiming in with your great little responses, as always.  ;)

Further investigation from whom?  Here is some great witty little banter for you - if you can't see that Paul is not a terrorist and had no genuine terrorist intentions based on an offhand comment on a poster collecting forum then you're clearly deluded.

You're also delusional if you think it's your role to play Mr. Homeland Security - why turn this thread into a US vs. the world cliche?  What was the point of that?

Leave your narcissistic ignorance to threats against the USPS - the Royal Mail clearly has enough problems...

First of all, there are some things that people can't say, such as the statements PW made, regardless of their name.  There is no way to know what one's intentions are when they make statements like that, and they are investigated.  Some people think they can say whatever they want online, they can't.  Period.

"Playing Mr. Homeland Security?"  What are you talking about?  I simply tried to tell him how stupid it was to make statements like that, and those things are absolutely not ignored.

I thought it was interesting how the only two people who agreed with me (publicly) are from the USA, and I took a page out of your little banter book, maybe it didn't go over so well with you.

"Narcissistic ignorance?"  You have no idea what you're talking about.  Maybe you should stick with your bad attempts at Top Gun jokes.

Who are you to decide what can and cannot be said? Who is investigating? Statements are not ignored by whom?  It's clear most of us saw Paul's posts for what they were and the context in which they were written.  But I guess a rampant case of paranoia (have you watched the Matrix one too many times perhaps?) and self-importance may affect one's outlook.  Period.

I think Paul can handle himself (and any consequences of what he decides to post or write).  You can disagree with the intended humour - but to unilaterally decide that Paul cannot make those posts or write the things he wants to write is ridiculous.  Period.

You come across as seeming to think of yourself as the Chief of the Internet Police as well as Tom Cruises' #1 fan.  I don't have a problem so much with the Tom Cruise part but when you attempt to convey what is an opinion in such absolutes you need to be called out on it.  Period.

"Rampant case of paranoia"?  You have no idea what you're talking about.

"To unilaterally decide that Paul cannot make those posts?"  I never said he can't say those posts, I'm not going to repeat myself about what I said about comments like that.

Tom Cruise's #1 fan?  Wow.  I like some of his movies, and I think it's funny how people jump on the bandwagon to hate him, and I stand up against that kind of stuff, and that makes me his #1 fan?  Do I runoff at the mouth, making fun of purchases you've made, actors you like, etc.?  No, because I'm not an internet troll.  You were talking trash about me before I even started on this forum.  People like you are a main reason why people don't join forums, and I don't know why I thought you wouldn't continue with that trash talk the entire time I've been here.

Your assessment was one of the most asinine things I have ever read.

For the sake of originality - "You have no idea what you're talking about".

How could I talk trash about you before you even joined the forum?  That seems pretty counter intuitive to me - and why suddenly jump to taking the discussion so personally?

Accusing me of talking trash about you the entire time you've been here - where the hell did that come from?!  Other than some Top Gun posts (which were clearly not directed at you in any personal manner - and I mean come on it's Top freakin' Gun!) when have we ever even conversed?  You seem to have me confused with trolls of forums' past - believe me my life is more meaningful than that  eyeroll

"Why suddenly jump to taking the discussion so personally?"  Look at your last comment with all the personal accusations against me.  I'll just leave it at that.

Before I started here, with the Avatar lenticular post-auction discussion you said (referring to me):

just reflects someone wanting to be 'the first kid on the block with latest new toy'.

I know you've said a lot of crap about at least one other purchase of mine, I'm not going to delve any deeper into in than that, because this has really gone farther than it had to in the first place.

Oh wow now I get why any lenticular posting was such a sensitive topic for you.  You know commenting on a poster is quite separate from commenting on a person right - the two are not reflections of each other...

To be fair and clear YOU were the one who started leveling personal attacks with your repeated "witty little banter" etc. scoffs.  Any comments I made were in relation to your actions/remarks regarding Paul's posting situation and not you on a personal level.

I have never set out to personally attack anyone (least of all you).  The fact you see comments on an Avatar lenticular from 3 years ago! as a slight against you personally and held that grudge is astonishing to me.  How can you go through life with such thin skin?  I guess it helps explain how you could misconstrue Paul's original posting and blow it completely out of proportion.

You asked me to tell you when you talked trash about me/my stuff and I told you.

If you think your "the big boys, paranoia, etc." comments weren't personal, but my comments about your "witty little banter" were personal, then fine.

I still wonder what you think would happen if you walked into a Post Office or some public building and made comments like those of PW, yet y'all think it's OK to say that stuff in a public forum online, and you guys point to me like there's something wrong with me for calling them out.  Incredible.  I'm not going to continue to repeat myself about Paul's original posting, or how you think I blew it out of proportion (like no one else precipitated it in any way).  Apparently, we'll have to agree to disagree with the majority of this.

I will try to not publicly interfere with statements like those of PW's again, here.  Now, back to posters!

Can't we all just get along guys. Kiss and make up already lol. We all have our own taste with our collections that is why each of us collect what we do. We all have our own opinions about what other people collect. I have learned from this forum not to take things serious. Just make up already. ;D

HOLY CRAP LOAD OF CRAP APF... How did this turn into WWIII?  I don't see this as an America vs The world thing.  I once was seeing a girl while in Australia and it was 9/11 2002.  The flags were at half mast down by QUT in Brisbane and I saw it as some patronizing gesture and got in this conversation with her about how if you are not American you don't understand or could feel the pain that Americans did.  She nearly slapped me and then wouldn't take my phone calls... A few days later I met her and her mom for lunch and got a huge lecture about how even though it seems that Americans are all alone it impacts everyone talked about how even though we are different nations we all know people impacted. It was all very heartfelt. I don't ever doubt that people outside the US do give us their hearts from time to time. So I don't agree into making this argument a US v World argument...  oh and yeah I am not reading all that crape in its entirety

For the record, the USA vs. UK thing I mentioned was taken out of context, it was just an observation of this thread.  Moving on now...
