I would call them and just cancel my order if it was me. It has got to be an error in their system. For that amount of money for shipping you would think that they are walking it across country and hand delivering it to you.  ;D

U.K. BUYERS TAKE NOTE.... thread has gone awol. It mentioned the extortionate charges uk citizens must pay when importing goods into the UK.

Well, not that I am really that interested, just curious...

Anywayz, I wanted to show you a company is trying to rip me off to deliver goods to my home. All I want to buy is a single solitary lounge cushion yet they want to charge me $2 million to ship it which I don't think is very fair, especially when they said on the site it would be free :(

Is this for REAL?

I think that in the UK the main problem is the lack of clarity on charges, and the different practices applied by FEDEX or USPS or Parcel Force. It is expensive and confusing.

I normally pay an average of +£100 including import fees and handling fees...

But that price you were quoted is just .....IS THAT FOR REAL?

It must have been a computer glitch as I changed my shipping address as per the red instruction then it seemed to proceed with free shipping :)

Ouch - anyone notice the big increase in UK postage this week? A tube that would normally cost about £3.75 from a seller was £6.75. Ridiculous price increase, it'll put me off picking up cheapy single posters on ebay UK.

Stolen from another website...looks like tubes will be medium parcels:

From 2 April 2013 you will have a clear choice of delivery options with features designed around you:

Guaranteed, for important items that must be there the Next Working Day: Royal Mail Special Delivery Guaranteed by 9am™ and Royal Mail Special Delivery Guaranteed by 1pm™
Confirmed, for when you need reassurance your item has reached its destination: Royal Mail Signed For 1st Class™ and Royal Mail Signed For 2nd Class™
Standard, perfect for non-valuable items: Royal Mail 1st Class and Royal Mail 2nd Class

These changes are part of significant investment in our parcels business to ensure we deliver the best service for you.

We are introducing two new parcel formats which replace current packets and parcels – Small Parcels and Medium Parcels. Find out more about our parcels changes.

1st Class and 2nd Class parcel prices

1st Class Small Parcels prices start from £3.00
2nd Class Small Parcels prices start from £2.60
1st Class Medium Parcels prices start from £5.65
2nd Class Medium Parcels prices start from £5.20

Royal Mail Signed For™ parcel prices
1st Class Small Parcels prices start from £4.10
2nd Class Small Parcels prices start form £3.70
1st Class Medium Parcels prices start from £6.75
2nd Class Medium Parcels prices start from £6.30

You could be Australia... My worse Obama/liberal fear, socialist run mail to the debt point of govern/business enterprise... nothing worse that a socialist pig of an organization trying to turn a profit with the same foundation that got them to that point...

i spent most of my lunch break arguing the toss but this stupid jobs - worth was having none of it! looks like ill be trying Hermes Couriers from now on - a bit more hassle but cheaper by far!

Jeez! That is ridiculous. Have you tried the parcel2go website, Mike? Quite useful for courier quotes - http://www.parcel2go.com/

I have a Bruce sized emovie canon to send to Teamweapon...I think courier is going to be substantially cheaper than RM.

Postal charges are not quite as simple as most people think.
A seller has to include other factors into shipping..
Tube cost,postage v delivery time expectations..etc.

So true Stew

And for some reason the calculations never match. The costs are always on the increase= it seems that I always have to pay more and more. And this reminds me that I hate PARCEL FORCE. Really. I do.

I struggle to fairly price any shipping cost when I sell any of my stuff.
I can however understand any seller who choose to charge the market rate,

I sell a lot of stuff on ebay (no paper though)
and in my town we have 3 post offices, so today i did a little experiment.
I sold 3 identical items to the UK so i packaged them all in the exact same way and took each one to a different office.
I got 3 different prices.... .90c , 1.50 and 3.30 for the same packages weighing exactly the same and all going to similar locations.
It's no wonder i have to guess my shipping charges on ebay  eyeroll
