Hokey smokes (to quote Rocky & Bullwinkle), boy did I blow it AGAIN by not setting up the notify thing for this month. Why do i always DO that (probably because I always post my 1st of the month post on the END of the previous month perhaps?)...but wow! Wow! WOW!!! Look at all of the goodies!
Here's a Japanese tatekan I just scored for Sam Fuller's film noir HOUSE OF BAMBOO (1955.) Interestingly, this is one of the earliest Hollywood films to shoot on-location in Tokyo, so I've been looking for this foreign poster for a while...
Cool. What IS this tatekan bad boy,
dpcarlson? Like an insert? Bigger? I don't know much about Japanese posters, but this is cool. I like the flair at the top. is it in two pieces? Nice.
CHRIS, congratulations. Me likes this one, too. I also like the name of the top billed actress...ANN SAVAGE. Ha! I wonder who she was. Never saw the movie...
Here are a few to help get the month started.
Nothing to break down the door, but some welcome additions none-the-less.
CHRIS Oooo I'm not quite hip as to what the Mondo stuff is exactly...but I do like your ROSEMARY'S BABY. Keep going. You are doing super great!
You've all heard me whine about losing many classic movie posters to a few unscrupulous dealers way back when.
Now, as I enter my 50th year as a movie poster collector, I am going to focus on finding replacements for those I miss the most.
This week, I scored two.
This 1962 Day of the Triffids one-sheet just arrived and it is virtually as spotless as the pic above -- no tack holes, no tears, no separations... nothing.
My second replacement poster (from a different seller) should be here by Thursday or Friday.
Holy crap,
TED! That is AWESOME. You da man! I saw you mentioning this poster elsewhere on here...which lead me to look in here. Dang dude! That is STUN-O-RAMA gorgeous! Oooooo... major jealous! But what is the 2nd poster you mentioned? Hmm. Why the mystery? CONGRATS, pal!
got a few things today, but this is the best.
Hey
ARI. That is a super fun piece. The colors just pop all over the place! COOL! It takes place in Australia, huh? Do YOU know where the green ants dream? Fun.
Here's a fun Thai poster for HARDLY WORKING. I've never seen the film and hear it's not good but you'd never know by the look of this poster.
MIKE, Thai posters are just so cool---even for titles which aren't exactly on anyone's radar like this one. WOW! LOVE it. Thanks for sharing.
Good job everyone.
CHEERS!
