I was reading something earlier about how a few rare BMWs, of the same model from the 60s, went to auction. Over the course of about one year, the first couple sold for around $1 million, much more than previously, and then one sold for $2 million. After that, there was a lot of buzz about it, and the model became a hot item.
Just to clarify one of my previous comments here - I do not think it’s cool when someone lists and sells something like a Star Wars Revenge of the Sith poster, for more times more than 20 times what they sell for almost anywhere else. However, sometimes it is cool when something ends up selling much higher than expected. Many times this happens in auctions, of course, and although when it happens with dealers there is sometimes a negative stigma attached, the sales and all can be positive in some ways.
