I may be a dealer, but the reason I arrived at that location was that I was a collector first and I still am (bigtime), so when I go through stuff I've had sitting around I find gems I'd either forgotten I had or others I didn't even know were there, it's like having another birthday!

happy me!

 cheers

Had this arrive yesterday. A Thai poster for Godzilla vs. King Ghidorah (1991)

The art is by Noriyoshi Ohrai.

The dragons makes me think of those shown on Japanese and Chinese art and embroidered robes.

And the descriptive paragraph at the bottom is priceless.

Nothing could be as brutal as the English on that poster

Love it

It makes me wonder, in an Asian country with an Asian movie, why they bothered to TRY to put in an English description? Ha!  It does make the poster all the more fabulous though. It should be featured on the website engrish.com . Ha!

Nice one, Jeff. That tagline is good fun. I've always loved that art, Ohrai is a master.

Chris, I need to get one of those one sheets for Get Out...film sounds very good.

I'm jealous of you Rich, it must be such good fun to root through boxes of posters not knowing what you might unearth and finding some gems.

Here are a couple I got recently

Japanese B2 for Hud

Mondo screen print by Jason Edmiston. A good friend got it signed by John Carpenter (in the bottom left).

Thanks guys.

Tob those are smashing. Ive always liked Edmiston's style. He captured it, that's for sure.

And that B2 for Hud is outstanding. Love that bright orange and yellow sun surrounding Newman.

Great scores, both.

it is fun. except it's going to end soon. I'm halfway through my own stuff (meaning the rolled posters I put away as I get them) and the stuff I got last year is almost gone through as well.

so I have to find more deals to find more stuff to find more goodies!

Oooo. I caught the GODZILLA VS KING GHIDORAH, but missed a few other goodies...

TOB: Nice acqs...especially love the HALLOWEEN...and it's autographed by JC? YOWZA!!!  How totally awesome!

TimelessMovieMagic, I could swear I commented on your amazing EGYPTIAN poster already. It's gorgeous. WOW!

poster art, what a HAUL. Golly! I am especially enamored with SOME LIKE IT HOT, FROM RUSSIA WITH LOVE, THE MISFITS, ROMAN HOLIDAY and TAXI DRIVER.

CHRIS--again, what can i say? AWESOME!  A NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET, HALLOWEEN 2, and that GET OUT are standouts!  Shazzam!

Not nearly as exciting as the above, but here are some samples of my usual mid-month poster post. As always, these are not the best of the lot-- but not the worst of them either. Take a look or don't.

CANDY:

CLASS REUNION:

HALLOWEEN (Japanese Chirashi):

There may be a few gems mixed in there as well...but I'll let you decide. I'll stick my post on my thread sometime after APF midnight. Golly, it's already mid-March. Last week it was cold...this week it is blazing HOT! Crazy!  Or maybe that's "March Madness"?

Have a groovy day.

Why did I not buy these YEARS ago, what a difference. Best $200 spent in a long time.

Not a poster, but for posters :)

Agreed.  Even, consistent lighting makes all the difference when shooting posters!

Seconded. You have inspired me to improve my photography setup.

I have grand ambitions to put more of my collection online, and the biggest blocker is that the photos I take for the most part look pretty crappy. Proper lighting is a big part of why, I think.

Well, it would also help to use glass paperweights or small magnets to hold down the posters rather than my current system: whatever random books I have laying around.

since I have been focusing on lobbies lately, my biggest improvement was getting an all-in-1 printer/scanner that had a scanner that handled up to 11x17.  I am getting beautiful scans with less than a minute from grabbing the lobby to publishing the jpeg.

If your printer can print 11x14 ya got an instant side business too  ;)

Another arrival today. A country of origin Thai poster for LOTR:The Fellowship of the Ring (2001)

Unlike some that have been discussed recently, (as well as those auctioned on emp), that are all in English, DS and measure approx. 27"x40" (produced as exports for English speaking countries), this poster is single sided, Not all in English and measures approx. 21"x30." It also has the HSBC logo.

What I also think is pretty cool with this one is that it pictures 2 close-up, profile shots of an Orc, that I haven't recalled seeing on other posters for this movie.

Isn't Country of Origin denoting, in this context, a poster that is from the same country as that which housed the Production Company / put up the funds / director / star etc.

What was the Thai connection to LoTR?

I can't see how the LOTR poster is a country of origin poster - J. R. R. Tolkien is a brit - the movies are filmed in NZ and its an American Production - nothing to do with thailand as far as i can see - Jeff you must know something i don't here???

My bad, guys... thanks for the correction. Yeah, its not a COO poster. Totally wrong "phrase choice" there, on my part.  Doh.gif

I was meaning that it was a poster produced in Thailand for use in that country and (and unlike the others mentioned that were produced there but meant to be shipped out and used in other English speaking countries).

Hey all, haven't posted in a while, but lots of great paper being put up!   thumbsup.gif
These are a few that I've picked up since 2017 kicked in ...

A larger sized chirashi (basically 38cm x 38 cm) for Harold Lloyd's Speedy (USA release 1928, Japan release ?).  The paper is super thin.

A speed poster size for Female Convict Scorpion: Beast Stable with Meiko Kaji.

A Starfall in pretty good condition...

Rocky Horror Picture Show, 1997 "arthouse" cinema release in Japan.

Nice pickups there, Devin.

That Lloyd piece is really cool, and I like that thin paper, too. It looks like there might be 2 other Japanese movies advertised on there, too? (based on the small photos).

And that "Starfall" looks to be in really nice condition. Great score!  thumbup
