No Simones,,you can buy lighter fluid from most newsagents,it looks like this.

They have a little red dispenser on top which lets out the fluid gently..the fluid does evaporate after a few seconds.

Simes,I would think that you may have to be very gentle and very patient..and also safe when trying out this method.
The fluid I think would not instantly lift off the snipe, but gentle persausion may be involved.

All,

At the risk of going over 'old ground' and thereby demonstrating the sheer limits to my meagre knowledge, are people aware of there being two versions of the UK quad for Diamonds are Forever?

I have bought, but yet to receive, a DAF quad with an AA rating assigned.  It has a snipe partially covering the second 'A', which I will attempt to remove (advice to be asked later).  But the thing is, I already own a DAF quad with an A rating assigned.

Is this an already well known fact?  Is the 'two rating' story old hat?

Sure enough... just looked at HA's archive and while most are 'A' rated, they have a single 'AA' example.  Click on the link for the super-sized version.  The 'AA' version definitely has an odd look about it.  The second 'A', which is in a bolder font, seems like it was added to the original plates as the first 'A' matches the single 'A' rated version perfectly.

Don`t know if it`s any use but the AA also has soundtrack info above the Panavision text.

I did think people knew this but, the AA Cert version is the first release of the film/poster, and Stew is quite correct it had the Soundtrack info on. Later releases dropped the classification to an A Cert and don't have the soundtrack info. Some of the first release Quads were used for later releases, and just had the stickers placed over the extra A, and the soundtrack info. These are still first release posters if you take the stickers off or not, I prefer to leave these things on as it's all part of the History...

If you want to remove the stickers, I did post some pics in the Restoration thread, and gave a brief description on how to do it, I'll try to find the link.

Edit:-  here it is.        http://www.allposterforum.com/index.php/topic,5546.0.html

Though I have found that different Lighter fluids perform better than the one in that pic.."K two"  from our local Spar shop seems the best so far, as does Ronson, but K two is half the price.

Agreed, leave them alone, they never did you any harm.
Poor snipes, always being removed.

I know what you mean fellas. But in my crazy way I wanted to see the difference between the two releases. I have the later A release as well.

Otherwise, I would leave them on.... I'm thinking.

I will consider both arguments.  Cheers.

OT: James Bond's submarine car discovered in Long Island storage

In 1989, a Long Island contractor decided to buy the contents of a storage container. He paid under $100 and he didn't know what was inside.

But the next day, when he and his brother opened up the container, they saw a giant lump covered in blankets. When they pulled off the blankets, they saw a white sports car with no wheels and a dented roof. It was the famous James Bond submarine car from "The Spy Who Loved Me."

"They really didn't know what it was at first," said Doug Redenius, co-founder of the Ian Fleming Foundation, which authenticated the car. "They had no idea how valuable their discovery was."

Now, 36 years after the car made its big screen debut, 007's underwater Lotus Esprit is headed to the auction block. The owner, who bought it for less than $100, could fetch more than $1 million. It is being sold by RM Auctions at its London sale on Sept. 9.....

Here's a link to an article about the Lotus Esprit listed above from my friends website and magazine dated July 03, 2013:
JAMES BOND LOTUS ESPRIT SURFACES FOR AUCTION

Interesting info about the DAF quad.
Had heard about the different releases - will have to dig out the other one I have lurking around to see what release it is!

I agree with others - leave the snipe, Simes.
Best wishes,
Adam

Actually, I've been away Charlie since July 12 and before that had just started to post back here and in all honesty, I thought it had already been mentioned so when I read the post you refer to I checked and I couldn't find mention of it, hence why I replied to said post with an article dated July 03. If you actually click on the link you will see that it is from the press release, which I thought others would be interested in.

So thanks for the comment, but you're way off the mark.
That crap is gone for me; shame it hasn't for some.
Best wishes,
Adam
