I recently bought the two "James Bond Film Festival" posters from 1975 and 1976.  Does anyone have any information about these festivals?  Were they world-wide?

I do like the Bond stuff, I have all bar 6 of the U.K. bond quads, though two I fear, I may never get to own as the prices are now too much. Here are three that come to hand.

Speaking of eBay deals....

What about this special French 2-panel (stacked, not side-by-side) for On Her Majesty's Secret Service in supposedly excellent condition... it only went for $88 two weeks ago on eBay!

Flash forward to this week, and the seller sold another one for $56.  Madness!  Didn't these used to sell on Heritage for like $500-$1000 only a few years ago?  I love this poster, by the way... I mean, how f#@king classic is that image.  Do Do Dooo, just hanging out on the slopes with my scotch and my pistol and a smug-ass grin.

I just wish I had somewhere to display it!  Even the 10' ceilings in my old Victorian house can't accommodate it!

#$%#!  I'm adding the "scan international auctions" to the weekly task list -they're obviously getting less attention than the US originals.

Mel, I've seen your apartment in the pictures you post... I hate to break it to you but your ceilings are tall enough either ;)

Seriously though, I think the poster market is at rock bottom right now.  The 70s re-release French Humungousauruses (French Humungousauri... what would plural be T?) for Bonds like Dr. No, Goldfinger, Thunderball, etc... have all been going for ~$100 lately, if not less.  A far cry from two years ago when even the re-releases were fetching $500.

Well, before we all sing the praises of eBay bond deals... some cautionary notes are in order.  Whoever the winner of this auction is is going to be very upset someday when they discover they bought a reprint:

Undersized Rolled Thunderball Quad... going for $312 and counting!

The dimensions didn't go up until after the first few bids had been placed.  They are only 26 3/4" x 38 3/4".  Also, after comparing it to every other example on Heritage and eMovieposter, the borders are much different than then originals. This eBay poster has way too much white border below the bottom credits.  I know people often try to pass off reprinted, undersized quads as originals that had been "trimmed" to fit better in frames (my ass).  I don't know how they would explain this one which has MORE white border at the bottom than the originals!

Here is an an original from Bruce for comparison:

I checked in with the buyer on this one too -- she was clueless rather than dishonest. Apart from the undersize measurements, the paper looks a little too glossy/reflective to be 60s vintage.

Did you tell her it wasn't an original?  I wonder if she would take down the listing or just let it ride?  So many of them do....

There is also a Some Like it Hot Belgian poster for sale on eBay right now.  It is a mint reprint (with "Printed in Belgium" in English at the bottom).  I told the seller it was a reproduction, but they haven't removed the listing yet...

What's their slogan... "What ever it is, you can get it on eBay."  True indeed.

I thought that Roger Moore was a totally pathetic excuse for a spy and after seeing a couple Bonds with him, I couldn't stomach anymore.. He's the man who made me stop seeing Bond (and I had all the Sean Connery Bond toys.. I wanted to be Bond)!! Moonraker, while having cool posters, I think is one of the worst movies of all time

Blasphemy, Rich.

Moonraker kicks ass, you just have to watch it in a different frame of mind than you would FRWL, for example.

Ha, then I bet you stay away from the theater now in general then.  Avoid anything by Tim Burton if Moonraker rubs you the wrong way.

I don't go as much as I used too, mostly for time & because all I want to do is bash people yakking on their cell phones.. But I but plenty of DVD..

as to Bond, I think Casino Royale & Quantum of Solace were remarkably well done & Daniel Craig turned out to be a better Bond than I was expecting

I loved the "everyone is going to know you died scratching my balls" line..

Just won a You Only Live Twice Style C on Ebay for $362, a good bit cheaper than it's sold for on Emovie/Heritage (in the $600-$900 range).

It doesn't look in perfect shape, but it looks pretty displayable.   If not, I'm sending it back per the 14 day money back guarantee.

Anybody else have this poster?

I've  got the quad version of this, i'm hoping to put it up at some point.

Good catch Mel.  I watched this one go down in real time. That seller had some great posters tonight.  I won one of the 2001 Star child posters from him a few minutes later.  Yours is my favorite Bond poster.  It looks in great shape for the price. He also sold two Josey Wales and two Le Mans for just under $200 each.

I have no idea why that seller listed duplicates of the posters and still more yet.. probably another one of those drop-off places that sells your stuff.
Brude.. which 2001 lot did you win (how much.. I was underbidder on one or two.. bastich!!)

Hey, Rich.  I got the third 1970 one for $22. The first two went for $34-36 I believe.
I too was surprised to see so many duplicates (and triplicates) at auction at the same time by the same seller.  I think he also sold 3 Soylent Greens and 2 Diamonds Are Forever.
Mel did get the pick of the litter.
