Wow, Jedi 6sht. Impressive. I already own it but was going to go for another one. I told Mike (Undead) I was going to bid $2.5k (when it was at $1k) just for the hell of it. Little did I know...A gorgeous poster, to be sure. Here's mine.T
Thierry did you get yours from Bruce?
what are you? A midget?
I just guessed at the length. You made me go dig it up. It is about 3-4 inches shorter than yours. But its in much better condition. I wasn't counting the handle. So there!
So, someone got a steal at Astons auction today. The War of the worlds Quad only made 18K + Commission. Wish I'd had the spare cash....
The original Lamp Post version double sided LA LA LAND one sheets (without the awards/nominations text) are unbelievably tough to find in great condition. Unless a boatload are suddenly dumped on the open market, this will be a very valuable poster in the future.
The awards/nominations text makes it look like crap. You're right; the few in great condition on Ebay have jacked prices.Let's see what happens if/when La La Land cleans up at the Academy Awards.
What was that pister that had 5 star reviews and 4 star review but they made it appear to be 5 with coberimg the center star with art?
Good call on that "pister."
I'm always amazed how you guys know about these auctions. Never heard of Astons before. Had I known about it, I would have probably bid on a few things.T
And here's a cool little article from Dec discussing this and a few other quads all from the same collector that were auctioned along with several pics:https://www.thesun.co.uk/news/2443533/film-buffs-widow-releases-his-remarkable-collection-of-230-old-movie-posters-as-they-go-on-sale-for-65000/
I was boarderline bidding on that one, but had put a fair bit on the Joe Young....Nice poster, wonder who got it.
I did Marc, being a Harryhausen fan it was a must for me. It arrived today, will post a pic in the Latest thread when I get some spare time..
