The perception can be very real, but it can also be used as a BS selling technique - it all depends on the kind of recall.
As for the PFLS, I would say in the low-to-mid hundreds and almost certainly not less than 100. It is the best execution of a brilliant design concept...
I would also say that there were multiple printings of the regular Pulp Fictions. My theater receive two separate shipments weeks apart, which was exceptionally rare except in the case of changes being made to the poster and that doesn't seem to be the case here. By contrast, there are significantly fewer dictionary advances around, the most under-appreciated of the three.
