How rude of me but hope It is never too late to say, hello

I have been a member of this forum for a while and never managed to introduced myself-  I am no longer a beginner but a Hoarder- well how did that happen huh?

So few things about me in case you care to know. My name is Rosa, I am Spanish, but live in sunny London and  I am a film fanatic, all from 20-50's is a must for me. Though I can pretty much watch everything.

I am emotional collector meaning that I buy the poster if I really like the film.  I have 3 golden rules: 1) Read as much as you can before you buy. 2) Breath while you buy (don't rush). 3) Don't cry after you buy (only of happiness). I collect posters. That makes me happy.

I believe in Democracy and John Ford.

We've already chatted in past threads... But a belated welcome is probably overdue!  It's always great to get more collectors here who focus on older paper. You'll be in good company I think :)

Carteles de los años 20 a los 50? Como dijo Harry, siempre es bueno sumar interesados en el papel viejo...
Cuando lo creas conveniente, a muchos aqui nos gustaria ver algunas piezas de tu coleccion.

THANK YOU ALL :)  :) :)And yes, I will be posting some of my posters soon, though you seem to have all the good ones!  ;)

Y Matias, si y si, los posters de cine son como los buenos vinos (y H Bogart) mejoran con el tiempo. Dame vintage. I think that the English traslation will be something like Movie posters are like a fine wine (and Bogart). They get better with age.  love vintage ;)

.. so I said that as far as I was concerned, the older the paper of the poster, the better so, something like posters are like fine wine etc...

No sure if the translation reads well, my English can be really crap :-[ :-[.. ay caramba ;)

Why not use French (a language I can read - at least partially)

Hola Tob, thanks. So far so good. I actually had probs with HMRC- Customs, they always ask me to pay more tax than I should so they get the  moron1 out of me. Other than that. All is good!

Did you have any troubles with yours? Assume you in the UK too?

I am in the UK and I agree...HMRC are a pain in the bottom! The 20% VAT is bad, but it's the £8 (or £13) fee they charge that really annoys me. I normally ask US shippers to mark the value of the package to $20...the problem with this is that they can't insure it beyond the $20. But if the seller packs well and you send it by a trackable method, I usually take the risk.

Hi Tob,

I suppose you mean the 5% VAT? I gather that you know you should pay 5% VAT NOT 20%. Do check!

I am just saying because the % VAT is my never-ending-battle with them EVERY TIME I buy a poster from outside the UK (Non EU). HMRC always tries to give me the  blahblah treatment.

It took me, exactly, 3hrs, 37mn and 23seconds to get them to correct the % VAT for my last purchase. It is 5% VAT. As you rightly say, we already pay handling fees. No need charge me 20% - thank-you-very-much.
