Movie Poster Art Gallery, London, UK
Commissioned work: LB and restoration (missing paper and general damage)
Cost: £180
POSTER: The Barefoot Contessa (1954). Argentinian poster. Condition: fair to good.
PROS: It was local, no shipping costs and no hassle. Quick turn around and Tim was a pleasure to deal with, polite and very nice.
CONS: The poster had some pencil and car tire marks and cameback with them, it looks very dirty. I will not bring any other posters back. BUT glad I went and gave it a try. Not one of my favourite Bogart posters so not a great loss, but certainly not happy with the work. Another poster that goes back to the closet.
UPDATE-MOVIE POSTER ART GALLERY -LONDONWhat great guys Tim and Martyn at MPAG are
. The restoration didnt go as I hoped, but certainly they know how to do business and how to treat their customers.
I went to see them today to discuss the work they did on a couple of my posters, one of which is the Barefoot Contessa as I mentioned in this thread earlier on.
They look at the issues I raised about both posters and offered to either fix the issues or provide free framing for one poster.
Their framing services is excellent, I have used their services in the past so I took them up on their offer.
I was happy with that, and they are indeed nice people to deal with
And in case you wonder, I worked on the Barefoot Contessa poster and I was able to remove the pencil and the tire marks and graffiti myself. And this is how it now looks.
Yes, yes...I know I am not Charlie OR Dario, but hey had to give it a go..
