After a long time of planning, a lot of hard work, and some procrastination, I've combined the love of posters and restoration into Movie Poster Works.
After some serious discussions with the wife and the conclusion that we both loved working together to conserve and restore posters and that my collection had gotten too big (I stopped counting after 3,000 or so..) - that something had to be done.
I figure that I am on the same path as many seasoned collectors now:
1. Buy a bunch of crap to start (almost 20 years ago),
2. Buy a few select posters and really like seeing them on your wall,
3. Realize that 90% of your collection could be purchased at any time, and
4. Decide that there are really only 100 or so posters that you really want...
Result: Let's sell some posters to get the ones you really want!
Twist: Learn how to conserve, support and restore posters.
1. We love working on posters,
2. With our careers, we can't dedicate the time needed to open a full time resto shop,
3. We don't really care for the pressure of working on other people's posters, and
4. We want to do meaningful work without the burden of making money...
Result: Let's find posters that need some care, conserve and restore them on our schedule, and sell them to support our passion!
That's how Movie Poster Works was born!
