Props- 2 Newspapers from Dick Tracy (1990)
« on: May 11, 2014, 09:11:38 PM »
I was working at a studio at the time and some additional, small insert shots and material for the titles had to be shot. The prop men brought a number of newspapers that had been printed and used in the film. When the shoot was over, these were tossed in the trash and i "rescued" them. They also brought in Beatty's yellow coat and fedora... but, unfortunately, those made it back into the propmaster's hands, when they wrapped for the day.  ;)

there was a time, right about 1990, when I would have killed to add these to my Dick Tracy collection which had some 100 pieces of original comic strip art, posters and more. I only have one original left (it's listed on MPB for $5k)

Russ Cochran also would have fought for these.. another big Tracy fan

Excellent rescue.  cool1     Are those the actual newspapers in the movie, or were there several copies of them?

The art dept had multiple copies made for scenes in the movie where newsboys are hocking their papers on street corners, when Tracy was arrested, or when showing a bundle of papers being tossed off the newspaper trucks to vendors. So yes, Brandon, these were used in the movie.  thumbup
