Is it okay to ask a seller why they're selling?

Aloha fellow collectors! Happy Friday!

I've come across a daybill for sale that I'm 99% certain was sold through eMovieposter about 9 months ago (when you compare the pictures the small colour flaws look identical).

My question is: is it ok to ask the seller if it is the same poster? I suppose it doesn't really matter, but when the price is much lower than it sold for in 2013 it just seems a bit...odd. I'm curious why someone would pay 3 bills for a poster and then look to offload it so quickly.

I would think it's fine to ask.

The answer, if any, might be something as simple as, "I need the $ right now."

Doesn't hurt to ask. They can always choose to not answer.

I've asked this question a lot to many sellers.

Dose it matter, if you know what your buying and are happy with the price. Nothing else matters.

It's OK to ask but be prepared for a snarky reply (or nothing at all)

I often ask where they got it from and if there is any history...

I recall one poster I picked up online, that, after we had the deal sorted.. I did ask the seller why he was selling it. He said it was because his wife no longer wanted it up and on display on their wall. Something about it scared her a bit.

And the thing is.. it was a US OS for a 1937 produced WWI-based drama. So there's nothing gory or offensive in the imagery at all.

If my posters weren't up on the basement walls they wouldn't be up ANYWHERE regardless of the subject matter ;)

Not even any of your great looking noir ones?  :-\

And I can think of a couple stunning travel posters of yours that should definitely be allowed on the first floor...  ;)
