Post Your Linen Backed Posters
« on: April 06, 2012, 02:48:43 PM »
After seeing that fellow members were posting a number of their fav, backed posters in Zorba's collection, here's a separate thread to post your linen backed wonders. Maybe the mods could move the few posts from Zorba's thread to this one, so they are all together?

A few things to discuss, even briefly, about your backed posters: Did you purchase it already backed? If not, your reason for backing- conservation, preservation etc. If your poster is newer, your reason for choosing to have it backed. Could make for some interesting perspectives and discussion.

I need to re-upload some images of the handful I have. They will be forthcoming.

FFDM Belgian RR - Bought it on the eBay for the price of an unbacked one...  Minor work near top middle...

Amadeus 2-Fogli Linen from Bruce's Sig Auction.  Was less than the cost to get one backed and this was is so nice without folds.

Nice, Charlie.

Beautiful ROMAN HOLIDAY--that image of Hepburn is amazing; she looks  sm1

And the Italian 2 Fogli for AMADEUS is the best poster for the film, IMO.

A french moyenne size that I picked up, already backed, for CREATURE FROM THE BLACK LAGOON (RR62):

I bought this when I was new in the hobby and thought "backed might be better." If I could go back, I would look for and buy this un-backed, if the condition warranted it.

It is no secret that I don't like linenbacking my posters.  I've made a few early mistakes by linenbacking mint condition posters, simply because I didn't know better (ET, Psycho, North by Northwest, Lawrence of Arabia).  I acquired a few, mostly French posters, because I simply didn't know (and still don't) how to get them in mint folded condition (Dr. No, Laura, War of the Worlds, The Mummy).  I linenbacked a few that I wanted to frame but never did (Suspiria).

I did that for colour coordination with WWC.  It makes the repro look real. ;)
