Browsing Bruce's Thursday results from the Halloween auction. Anyone else surprised by this one?

http://auctions.emovieposter.com/Bidding.taf?_function=detail&Auction_uid1=4415737

Went for 2.5X the previous highest one Bruce sold, and there were four or five bidders hitting it at that price. I'll happily sell my near mint copy to anyone for a measly $375.  ;D

Seems no matter what the poster, when 2 people really want it, the sky can sometimes seem the limit. 'Amazing' is another word that also comes to mind.

Good for Undead. Zowie! I bid that high? Ha!  What was I thinking.... I'm BROKE! Glad it went to a good home though. Congrats, Undead.

Either home would have been a good landing spot for the RR Wolf Man military OS. It's great to see that it went to an APF member. Nice job, Mike (if the same undead, that is).  cheers

And Barbarella B at $600.  Even though it is linenbacked, someone got a super good deal there.  If it had been folded, I would have bought it again.

If it had been unbacked and mint, it would have gone for over a grand!

Those S2 horror recreations were fun to watch all week. I had no idea they were worth so much, being repros. Looks like one or two bidders got the majority of them.

They may be repros, but they are limited, and when you see them in person they look amazing.  For anyone wanting a Universal monster poster that doesn't have oil baron money then they are the next best thing.

And when you also consider that each is a stone litho produced on presses that are over 100 years old and the fact that the art on each poster was re-drawn by an artist who closely based it on the original (each S2 has slight variations when compared to the original OS art), they truly are beauties in their own right.

Agreed. My plan was to frame a few of them. I planned on bidding toward the end until they went way beyond what I thought they would.

All these Buster Keaton LC that are currently going by look to be in really good condition, too. And the Hap Hadley caricature artwork along the side is really fun, too.

Is it my imagination or are  most things going for less than the estimated prices or at the very low end of the estimate range?

Lots of stuff has been going lower than or at the lower end of expected prices. I wonder why? The jitters from the election results? Or did something else happen lately I'm not aware of?  That re-titled FREAKS still went for a LOT more than I could afford. Sooooo glad I got my re-release when I did.

it is indeed rare, but I think it's properly described as International
I have one that someone has been trying to get from me for some time, but I'm not interested, because it's freakin rare!

as to prices seeming low. It's a combination, areas with lessening interest, future economic considerations with the new president, maybe even some aggressive estimates. By comparison, silent era material did very well and that Italian Casablanca price is mind boggling. I can't imagine any other auction getting such a result.
