It's my second one.  The first one goy hit by sprinklers and ended in the trash a few years ago.  I'll try to treat this one better...  :)

Next time a poster of this caliber gets hit by a sprinkler, call me before you call the trash man.
I'll take your sloppy seconds any day of the week.

^ Yes. Agree. There were some interesting results at that auction. He has a good selection this Sunday too. Including some posters that were sold recently at HA. It would be interesting to see if he gets a higher or similar price to HA.

Not sure if anyone else was paying attention but the very amusing Dracula Title card that was not a title card actually closed over $100. Still curious as to exactly what it was. Anyone know for sure?

The Dracuala Title Lobby Card that was not

it is very obviously an inkjet print that has been poorly mounted as can be seen from the rippling

hilarious that even a moron could pay $100

Wow, that's a large price. Anyone know what the attraction is for this poster?

Could be as simple as -- Early Ford, large format.  There are so many people in Hollywood who were influenced by him.  I can imagine number of deep pocketed-bidders that wanted a (probably only-known) piece of his mojo.

I was going to ask the exact same thing.  I find it extremely boring and... yes, ugly.

Even aside from it being rare, I would also suggest that is due to the fact that it's for an early John Ford film...

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Iron_Horse_%28film%29

Have other 6sh for this title come to auction? If not, and, again, for this film, (along with the 2 that battled it out tonight), you have the perfect bidding/auction storm!

XC668568 and ma500969 were duking it out.

It is an early Ford (who I find to be INCREDIBLY boring) & a rare 6-sheet, the price does not surprise me at all.

I held off saying that in case the buyer was reading this thread, but now I must say I fully agree. Re ford, was this a classic movie as I'm sure some just as great director(?) made some less great film and those posters are not highly prized

You know I don't go for the politically correct.  We all have different taste.  Criticizing a poster doesn't mean criticizing its owner.  It's just a poster.

Ford made his mark in Hollywood and is admired, and has influenced many a director and the Western genre, in general.

Yes the poster is rather static.. not a lot of movement...but I think the stone lithography looks great, it's in great condition, and the 2 bidders that went after it, drove it to that price, and battled it out to that kind of high number, had a definite reason for doing so.
