Oooohhhhhhh oops.  8)

That's great, but seriously, what in the world made this so desirable? There were a bunch of bidders too!

Serious Spider-Man collectors perhaps?

First release Aus daybill (a more poor, less detailed scan, unfortunately), the  complete, R1950s version, and a b/w image of the 6 sheet, which looks pretty cool, too!

US 6 sheet

"Please step away from the keyboard.  In my unsolicited opinion, you paid too much for your poster," said APF Price Police Officer Thierry.

Son of the Sheik (Fr 1P) 1930

I still think this is the best, most iconic Valentino. And it went for peanuts, in my humble opinion. Benito will be selling this for €9,000 and without the frame. eyeroll

The problem with these auctions is that a lot of people don't know about them.  Had I known this was going on, I would have probably bid on a few items.  Heck, I don't even know what Weschler is.

I wonder if these prices include the much-beloved 20% buyers premium?

The auction results don't say "realized price," which reflects the buyer's premium.  I'm guessing that those were the hammer prices.

I lost interest when the auction runner told me everything was being sold with "hidden reserves." No can do....

I just checked your links, Matt.  So these people were selling stuff framed?  That's the most ridiculous thing I've ever heard.  So you're stuck with a frame that you have to trash?  I guess I didn't miss anything after all.   thumbup
