I was going to say get it off your chest but perhaps not appropriate.

Another great poster - I remember Christies selling a copy years ago, not sure whether other copies have surfaced since. I would love to own a Venturi poster on a major film like this one, really distinctive artwork.

Thanks Mark.

Venturi did amazing & beautiful work.

I found a site that shows a variant of this poster (printed in slightly different colors):

Perfect.

What is the deal with the bricked space in the ...window frame?  Interesting.

A beautiful poster and yes - I'm also wondering about the brickwork. It looks like an exposed section of the original wall rather than a blocked up window.

Except that it is recessed from the wall?

It looks like an exposed section of the original wall

That is exactly right.  It's the back side of one of our 6 coal fireplaces.  Our house was gutted when we bought it so finished all the walls.  The fireplaces weren't usable, but that section of brick was nice enough to leave exposed -- our little attempt at a loft feel in our 1912 Victorian house.  I wish the whole little wall was nice enough to expose, but below that cut out is a 7th fireplace that was filled in concrete at some point.  Someday I may tear the drywall off and put new brick over the whole thing.  Then I can put a 3-sheet on it :)

Thanks for the kind words everyone!  It's a pretty special purchase for me.

As some of you know, I don't like framed posters on my walls, but yesterday I finally caved and hanged my old frame, and today I put a poster in it.  I couldn't find anything, so I went for something accessible, and that was a Star Wars B0.  It's a little small for the frame, but it works.

Where can I get a frame similar to this one? I like that it's oversized. Looks great.

Yeah, it doesn't look too bad.  I mean, it's not a great poster, but as always for me, the movie is what matters most and I think of the movie when I see the poster.  I'll probably get bored with it sooner than later.

When that happens and you swap it out, will this particular wall space always be a display spot, too? Or do you have a few areas that you might hang this frame (just to mix it up a bit)?

I only have two poster frames, the big one you know about, and this one.  I usually hang non-poster stuff around the house.  The big frame is a permanent fixture, and I take the little one in and out of storage when I feel like displaying something.  Breakfast at Tiffanys and Dial M for Murder were the last two posters I framed (that was before I moved).  I don't have anything yet to display after Laura, so unless I find something, it will go back to something non poster related.

I don't really care, to be honest with you.  It's only temporary.

Ah, so all posters can be removed and replaced, if as and when?

Gotcha.

Dunno about that. There's something timeless about the poster (totally bc i'm partial to the film myself) without it being such an obvious poster to display. It looks thumbsup.gif
