Just returned from Asia. Great country Thailand. Very laid-back people, much unlike the Chinese. Loved it there.
Thanks to the forum I found & visited Santi's movie poster shop at Siam Square ! Big fun.
He's a cool character, we had a good time.
His originals from the 60s/70s are rather expensive (up to 500 $ for 007 films), but not many copies (or none at all) exist of the really good titles anymore in Thailand. So my dreams of getting the two Thai WILD BUNCH posters collapsed right away.
But I bought a GODZILLA set (1991), a TOHO poster (Joe Cotton submarine, forgot the title), both KILL BILL's (nice different design)
and an ENTER THE DRAGON reproduction (would kill for the original). Nice price too.
Then we moved to HUA HIN and in a big shopping mall there was a stall with miscellaneous stuff, incl. posters!
Almost all from Thai movies but I found some nice ones: Escape from NY, River of no return (70s print) + 4x Chinese films (2x Chang Cheh/Ti Lung, 1x Chow Yun-Fat + another nice one I didn't find out details about yet.). All for $40.- !
They also had framed reproductions which cost 5 times as much as the originals I grabbed
. I love the reproduction
of the German SAYONARA double panel, one of my favorite German poster designs (see my original below).
