Ocean's Eleven DS OS identification?
« on: December 19, 2012, 06:41:31 AM »
Can someone help me out?  I got this one a while back, not only because it was cool, and I think the best artwork for the film, but it was also DS.  My problem is that I have NEVER seen another copy, and that's including reprints, let alone original DS copies.

What I really like about it is the inclusion of the famous "Welcome to Las Vegas" sign.  To my knowledge, none of the other paper on O11 features it.  Also the nice black and white/retro color palette just feels right, and lets Julia Roberts kind of stand out in her red dress.

I have to assume due to the rarity that it is probably an international style, but the bottom line is this is the only copy I have EVER seen since the film came out, and I have every other style, including the normal "international" styles for O11.

Does anyone have any info on this poster?  Does anyone else even own one?

Thanks in advance!

Steve

You forgot to mention the most important part, they printed it UPSIDE DOWN! Must be an error.

I must be off my game today, because if there was some intended humor in there, I simply did not get it.  Can someone dumb it down enough for me to understand?  And if it's displaying upside down for you, it's not for me.  Maybe it's like British comedy?  Sometimes you lose something in the translation?

Well, Ari IS in Australia.  He probably sees all of our posters upside down.

Yeah, it's like when you flush the toilet and the water spins the other way down there.  All Northern Hemisphere GIFS and JPGS are displayed upside down.  Strangely PNGs are fine anywhere.

Ari just likes to stand on his head a lot as he tries to balance out his disproportionately growing arse...it's fast becoming a necessary hobby

I'm here to defend the Offal Eater, I was looking at the forum earlier on my phone and the picture was upside down on that. It's the right way up on my computer though...weird! So I got your gag, Ari  ;)

HA!  I just checked this thread on my iPhone and the image is upside down!

I would bet:

he took the image and changed it's orientation from the photo shot. He shot upside down, turned it right-side up with software. However, there is a small bit of code in the photo that didn't update and some browsers read that code before getting to the correct code that says it's been re-oriented.

I actually have this issue ocassionaly with my manipulation software. If I do a twist task on one computer with ThumbsPlus, then transfer the image, it gets displayed in ThumbsPlus on teh other compueter in it's original orientation

Steve, in all the years since, were you ever able to find out anything more about this poster, its rarity etc?

And is it still the only one you've come across?

Rich, any theories or ideas why it's so rare?

sure. It's a US-printed international style used for English-speaking countries. They get sent out and until someone in Europe, Asia or Africa finds a tube of them, they're rare.
