Been meaning to take pics of my collection for a long time so I know what I have and don't.
These are just my 2013 acquisitions. More to come as I bring out my past purchases.
I collect mostly from the 70's forward, so no old paper here. Not to say that what I've been seeing around here isn't mighty impressive, just not my thing.
I try to do my homework and believe I've got all originals, but if you see something that is suspect, please let me know.

Is that Goonies map style linenbacked, it doesn't look shiny enough...
It is not linenbacked. None of them are.
It measures 27x41 spot on.
Both Goonies posters appear to have similar paper, which is shiny. Obviously the angle I used was to avoid glare.
What else could I check for authenticity? You tell me, I'll check it.
Now I'm not going to be able to fall asleep... ;)

I'm writing up my response to Charlie about confirming authenticity and then see your first sentence before I can respond. I about dropped a load.
I know the Donnie Darko is good based on the source. :P
Oddly enough, when I got the 2 Goonies posters, I was more concerned about the cave-style than the map-style. But after checking them over and over and over, I think they check out. But I will check them again.

Your GOONIES are both fine, Mike. You did a fine job of photographing them, too, to avoid capturing any glare from the flash on the paper.

Nice Mike. The most important thing is that your posters seem in pristine condition. Any post 1980 posters should be in absolute mint condition, and you seem to understand that.

Yes, I was extremely excited to have found the King Kong B1.
As for the Fantasia, I liked the quad over the 1-sheet. The 1-sheet looks cramped and doesn't have enough room for the background to really 'breathe', imho.

And correction (sorry) - the Last of the Mohicans is a quad, not a OS. Like the Fantasia poster, I felt the quad allowed the artwork to flow better:

Yeah, I think I read a post you made somewhere around here about not spending money on lesser quality because with a little time you'll be able to find something in really good condition for the price you're looking for (or something like that). Anyways, that's what I've always done (for the most part).
The ones I could have done better on are Three Amigos (can find rolled), Bambi (tri-folded but with extra center fold - grrr) and the Snow White (I extremely dislike folded DS posters). Oh well. I'm still happy with 'em. thumbup

I thought that one was the single-sided, special mail in poster.

Ah, gotchya. Correct, I do not believe it was a theatrical release poster and I knew that when purchasing. EMP has it listed (incorrectly?) as a teaser. It was more of a completist purchase for me.

There is one more from The Neverending Story that I need. I'm finding it difficult to hunt down, but yeah the German OS reminds me of the novel's artwork.

I found it interesting that the studio version (right side) includes the Dolby logo, while the GCIU version (left side) does not. This inclusion essentially offsets the entire bottom credits line between the two.

That is correct - another bus shelter. I couldn't believe I was able to find both Jack and Sally, and win them, and at the price I got them at! That was definitely a happy win. I believe T snagged the Mayor from the set that was being sold.

I have to admit that the GITD image on my copy is not as strong as the image shows. Might be that I'm doing it wrong, or perhaps the effect is wearing off, but I still think it's neat.
Anyone know if there's a trick to getting the GITD image to really 'pop'? Using a blacklight perhaps?

How do they work? Do you need any lighting to appreciate the different colours in the dark or do these posters just glow in the dark? I am seriously considering getting one for my nephew...(well for me really.just need an excuse!)

I have never put any of my prints up on the wall, so I don't really know what they look like over time (like if they glow every night, how long the glow lasts), but I usually look for the effects when I first get the prints and before I shove them in the flat files. I just expose them to a light for a minute or so, then turn off the light and check the glow. It's pretty cool.

They use special inks for the GID effect. From EB: "6 color silkscreen with glow in the dark and metallic ink"
Nope, no special lighting needed, at least for this one. I pretty much did as T described - hold it in the light for a couple of minutes and then go into a dark room. I'll admit the effect on mine wasn't as pronounced as the image above shows, but it still shows. Not sure if that might be due to the seller keeping it in the light or maybe that's as bright as it gets. That's why I was wondering if perhaps a black light might enhance the effect.

Thierry- I didnt notice they had to be exposed to the light first but that sort of make sense!
I managed to find one today in my local film poster store where I was lucky to see it in person. Those are really cool and I was quite nicely surprised how pretty they look.
Mike- So far I have only found the variant. Yours is better. So my search continues. I also saw the ET. Very nice!

The banner (the one with the Sydney Amphitheater) is vinyl, probably as thick as the bus shelters or a tad bit thicker. Only one I'm missing from this series is Space Invaders. Just couldn't find one. Grrrr....

Hah, believe me, I watch and wait for lots of stuff. However, I'm starting to believe something T said a while ago about bus shelters - something along the lines of they're only around for a short time and once they're gone, they're gone. Thank goodness for saved searches. :)

I personally prefer the 1st one, but the artist likes the second one better. The first batch of posters got damaged in transit, so the gallery had to reprint them in a matter of days. The print was not checked and came out lighter. Tobin wanted it darker and printed the second one correctly. I almost didn't buy the second one because it was so dark, but when Tobin told me his story, I caved.

That one is actually a print from Mondo. It came in 2 forms: the B&W variant, which is what I have, and the regular:

At first I was bummed that I didn't get the colored version, but it has grown on me and I prefer this B&W variant.

Good eye! Yes, you're correct. It's not true black and white; however, it's just easier to describe it as such. I think the slight tinge of color is why I like it, though.

I really like that Zelda one sheet. Also like the bus stop design for Incredibles 2 (hadn't seen that before).
I have the first poster, but I need to get that one sheet design for Spider-verse too, it was one of my favourite films of last year.
Also, that SW 3-sheet is incredible!

Yes, nice varied additions Mike. The three sheets would look spectacular on a wall but the Iron Giant is probably my favourite. I have the Crocodile Dundee poster - US printed but in Spanish. Is yours a US International? I hadn't seen this style in English before.

I was lucky enough to grab all of the posters, including the always sold out Majora's Mask, from the Symphony of the Goddesses store before they took it offline. They'll look nice with my Zelda statues in my Zelda shrine, someday. :)
I passed on the character posters for Incredibles 2, so this was a nice compromise (since it has everyone in silhouette).
Really liked the Spider-verse posters, so much I got it in small and large format. :) Still need to see the movie, hopefully before it leaves theaters.
The SW 3-sheet has been on my radar for a while. Luckily found one that didn't have too many bids and, thanks to a few undisclosed blemishes, got a partial refund on it. That one went into the 'Best of 2018' thread for me.

I was very happy to snag that Iron Giant int'l and luckily got it at a nice below-average price.
The Crocodile Dundee is the Australian one sheet. I actually purchased that from Ari (thanks again, Ari!). I've been wanting to get one ever since T posted an image of it years ago.

Yeah, I was surprised how many French posters I'd picked up. Really like some of the alternative artwork on the larger formats.

Was curious to ask, have you come across that BttF bus stop before? I know someone here (another Mike I think) had a US bus shelter, but the tagline on mine is different. Apparently only used in the UK (according to imdb) and it's the first time I'd seen it.

No, but I haven't looked for it either. Back to the Future is one of those titles that I consider complete. It had been 99% complete for years, all I needed was the Thai, and then I got it earlier last year. Everything else is a repeat at this point. If I ever see your bus stop, I will buy it, but I won't be looking for it, if that makes sense at all. Great purchase, though.

Thanks. I try to update it as often as I can. Once or twice a week. As it expends, and as I buy more posters, it will eventually become a good tool to see specific artists work, as well as actors and directors of my choosing.

Wow, great selection! Love that Lost Boys poster, the quad artwork works really well in that format. Also nice to see the set of Godzilla posters. Haven’t seen the movie yet but always liked those.
