MaGG, I'm just keeping the slides wrapped in the lobby card bin for now.  Definitely want to figure out a way to display them though.

Naturally the bleedthrough is right above Lon's head, you can kind of see it on the lo-fi photo.  An inch down and it would have disappeared.  :(

I've dreamed of owning this poster for a long time, ever since I saw it on APF several years ago in fact. I finally tracked an original 2-sheet down and added it to my site today. I've included 70 photos so you can really get a look at all the details of Tongdee's phenomenal artwork. I used Photoshop to try and match the two sides together for the main photo but it's not the easiest. In a recent issue of Dark Side magazine there was a picture of the artist alongside Neil Pettigrew, a UK collector of Thai posters who some of you may know. It shows that Tongdee originally painted the poster on two canvases so this means joining the two sides together perfectly was always going to be impossible!

This is one of those pieces of art that I find new detail in every time I look at it and love Tongdee's use of colour.

Beautiful, Ed!! WOW!!

Can i ask.. is the profile image of Martin Sheen a partially colorized and saturated photo? While the rest of the piece is all created art, his image, or rather the front half of his face (at least appears, in some ways) to be photographic, with added coloring and layering of texture and green.

Congrats.. I think this is a killer poster!!

Thanks Jeff.

I'm as confident as I can be that Sheen's face is painted but I'm happy to be proven wrong.

Ed.. thanks for that amazing closeup! And the part of his image that had me ask the question.. the appearance of his eye/iris. lol

Seeing it up close, it just had me wondering if a photo was used initially, then layered onto with those amazing, painted colors and added details.

'Tis truly spectacular.

I guess that's definitely possible, as I agree that the eye looks more photographic than the rest, but I still feel it's wholly painted.

I'm certain it's painted as well.  It's Tongdee's masterpiece and the best of all Thai posters.  There's no other poster like it.

If nothing else, a possible reference image Tongdee may have used:

WHERE do you find this stuff, Jeff? You're always digging up some obscure nugget.

As for the poster...as I said earlier elsewhere, I am now totally sold on Thai posters---They are just stunning, for the most part! Sad to see that many of the newer posters seem to be following the bland new trend of using Photoshop. UGH!  But those older than 15 years or so have some amazing art. This APOCALYPSE NOW poster is just gorgeous! WOW!

I should have picked that 2-sheet up awhile back when I had the chance. Kicking myself for it now. The artwork is exceptional.

Thanks Paul.

What is interesting is to see this (im thinking it's a slightly later RR), that Benito has. The same plate was used, but this version lacks the color and was done in more reds and greens:

Elizabeth Allen isn't naked on this poster, so I didn't think you would mind, Matias.

Mexican OS for Tierra De Hombres (1957)  The artist is Francisco Díaz Moffitt

And the imagery on this reminded me of the kind that could almost be used on a travel poster.

Another that just appeared.

Mexican OS for the Western-vampire film, El Pueblo Fantasma (1965)

The kick ass color on the face at the top is what drew me to this one.
