Metallic Pen removal
« on: September 16, 2014, 05:55:43 AM »
I'm considering buying this poster that has been written on with what looks like a silver metallic sharpie pen. The poster is heavy stock and the pen is only in the black area. Is this something I could tackle myself or would I need to send it away? I really want the poster, the writing not so much. Thanks for any advice.

#1 no you cannot remove the paint
#2 that's an autograph, why would you want to remove it anyway???

You can remove it, but it will remove everything under it too (the paint on the poster).  Nail polish remover would do the trick. Then you would have to figure out how to reapply the black area which would turn white.

I would leave it, since trying to get that off would do more damage than good to the poster.

And what ever you fill it in with would likely be matte, not glossy like the poster.

Actually, aren't those posters matte finish in the black areas.  Either way, I still wouldn't do it.

Thanks for all the input. I think I'm going to pass if I can't get it off. I've waited a good few years to find this but I guess I'll have to keep looking.

It is a matte poster Archie so I had thought that would make it easier.

Regarding the autograph, I have no idea who's autographed it but I didn't think it was by anyone connected to the film. Even if the Director had autographed it I'd still want one without the scribble. Each to their own I guess. Still can't say I'm not disappointed but thanks for all the advice.
