Hi all

Having been a member for a bit now, and after seeing some of your amazing collections (and hearing about some fabled ones!) I'm just about ready to show part of my little collection. I began about 15/20 years ago and concentrate mainly on modern posters, post '77, mainly because the older posters that I covet are far to expensive for my wallet.

I began photographing my collection a couple of weeks ago and it was great getting everything out the old plan chest and mylar sleeves. Being quite scatty there were a few beauties that I had totally forgotten about... anyone remember the die cut 'Alien' Directors Cut UK Quads? Founds two of them in the middle of my stash Cheesy I don't know if other people do it, but when I find a stunning poster I really want I invariably buy two, one for me to keep and enjoy and another just in case they become valuable so I can be a capitalistic git and make some money Undecided

Anyways, below I've posted a couple of posters that are my faves of the moment and I have on my home page, and here's the link to my new website where I'm uploading them all. There's still a fair few to photograph but hopefully over the summer I'll be able to finish the mission.

Would love to hear your comments, thanks for looking.

Amelie Japanese B1 (red bedroom)

Star Wars Polish (C3PO)

The Usual Suspects 1-Sheet (not the watch version... damn!)

Ocean's 11 1-Sheet (stunning poster!)

Spider-man 1-Sheet (International recalled)

Peace.

Nice site, AP. You have some very nice posters...looking forward to your additions.
I might have to open one of these weebly sites.

Thanks for the positiveness Cheesy

I've managed to have a poke around the website today and created another section for 'Tarantino' posters. Both 'Grindhouse' Quads need to be added plus the the two 'Kill Bill' Quads. On my original spreadsheet (when I was organised!) it looks like I've got a 'Jackie Brown' Quad somewhere Tongue

The 'Refreshments' section now has additional posters for:
'Alien' Directors Cut Limited Edition 1-Sheet (still got to photograph the die cut Quad)
'Pirates of the Caribbean' 1-Sheet (it seems like I have the skull and crossbones teaser somewhere too!)
'Rules of Attraction' 1-Sheet (you know the rude one with the bears copulating)
'Amelie' Quad
'Fight Club' 1-Sheet
'Lost Highway' 1-Sheet (mmm this is paper backed too... haven't got a clue why!)
'Batman Returns' 1-Sheet Teaser (I love this poster, so simple and effective)

Here's some of the new pics:

Tell ya wot, damn exciting delving through the plan chest of doom and unearthing little gems from my humble collection Grin

Onwards and upwards... stage one nearly complete, a few remaining 1-sheets left and then onto another draw!

We have more photos uploaded to the site!

The 'Refreshments', 'Matrix', 'Spider-man' and 'Tarantino' pages all have new posters. Below are some of my favourites from the new batch.

I have also posted photos of two 'Spider-man 3' (black alien suite) posters (I'm afraid there's not a lot of difference between the two photos!). They are both single sided and pretty much 27"x40", the only difference being one has a matt finish with spot UV rain and the other one has a normal glossy finish. If anyone has any information about this poster and the different finishes I'd love to hear Smiley

I WANT your PLANET TERROR Quad....DEATH PROOF, too.
I registered for a page so that I too can become a full-fledged weebloid.
Maybe, just maybe...I can slide the above posters over to my site...

I dunno, but I believe all of the styles had one with the glossy rain effect and then one without.  And the ones with taglines had one of each of those for the US tagline "the battle within" and the international tagline "the greatest battle lies within".  So that means that the one you pictured had 2 versions while all of the other images had 4 versions.  Great overkill on posters for such a shitty movie.  Personally, I have the style C or "venom on the left" version with the glossy rain and the international tagline.

Cheers Kovacs... haha I know what you mean about a shitty movie, SM3 was awful! If I ever see that scene in the restaurant where Spidey starts singing and dancing again it will be too soon Undecided.

But it does bring up a question, why do I buy certain film posters? I buy 'em (probably) for two (maybe three) reasons, one I lurve the art, two I think the film is gorgeolicious and possibly three because I think it may be rare and go up in value (sad but maybe true) . Spidey 3 falls into categories one and three for me and that's why I wanted these posters. But the overriding reason I collect posters is the time, place and social comment, I love the way film art mirrors what is going on in the real world at the time. I think that's a discussion on it's own but is central to why and what I buy.

Brude and Zorba thanks a lot for liking my collection, if you bear with me I will have a little sleuth to see if I can find a couple more 'Deathproof' and 'Planet Terror' Quads... I'll let you know if I find any Wink

More to be loaded on the site tomorrow hopefully.

I haven't got a clue Dread, I bought it on the 'bay for £15 in 2003! Loved the film so really wanted one, never seen any again.

Think I'm going to do a little research...

Looks like the one I've got is an 'Advance' version, there's a full credits version on ebay http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Uk-Cinema-Quad-JACKIE-BROWN-Quentin-Tarantino-Poster_W0QQitemZ320510957394QQcmdZViewItemQQptZUK_DVD_Film_TV_Film_Memorabilia_LE?hash=item4a9ff11752.

Ahhh and the one I've got is on the 'bay too http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Quentin-Tarantino-JACKiE-BROWN-Quad-Cinema-POSTER-Grier-/370367233290 but it's a folded version. Thought that would be a bit late to machine fold posters?

More posters have been added and the 'Refreshments' section has been tweaked so the page isn't stupidly long!

Here's a couple of my favourites from the new additions...

'Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels' Quad
This is an interesting one as it looks completely legit but, all the places I've found it say it's 40"x30", I measured mine and it definitely isn't! The one I have measures 38 3/4" x 27 1/4", does anyone know anything about what size this Quad should be?

'Live Forever' Quad

'Casino Royale- Vespa' Intl. 1-Sheet
Been looking for this one for ages to go with my Solange version and finally found it this weekend Smiley

An original DS Quad for Lock Stock and Two Smoking Barrells is definitely 30 x 40.

Thanks Mark

I presume I must have a reprint or something then Undecided! I just find it hard to believe as everything's pin sharp, the paper is quite thick and glossy and uses silver ink for the borders and characters, pretty sure I bought it around the time of the film as well. Hmm interesting!

I may be wrong here because I am far from an expert on quads, but I believe the studio had a bunch done up to be sold/auctioned for charity.  These were undersized while the theater display posters were the full 30x40.  There is the same deal going on with Trainspotting quads I believe.

I did inadvertently buy the same sized Lock Stock poster as yours - it didn't seem right when I took it out the tube - I recollect it seemed too thin and then I measured it - I chucked it after getting a refund from the seller - he didn't want it back. Tom Loce was selling these in 2003 and he maintained this was the standard size quad for this title. I didn't agree and subsequently found a full-sized quad. They are quite hard to find.

Interesting, so they're (possibly!?) legitimate posters, and they MAY have been printed for an auction/charity thing.

I wonder if I can find an email for the distributor?

Thanks for the info. Mark and Schan, no worries either way but I'd prefer to nail its provenance down before categorically saying what it is on my website. I'll have to amend it's listing when I get a chance.

I really like this poster for 'The Filth And The Fury'... it's single sided and 27"x40" so am assuming rolleyes it's a UK 1-Sheet. Don't quote me tho!
