Superman from 78 4 sheet?
« on: March 24, 2013, 03:09:28 PM »
Hello,

I got what is supposed to be a Superman 4 sheet from 78, but it seems nowhere to be found online.
And it looks real.
I will post a picture if needed, but i hope some of you may know it exists at all, or that it is something else entirely.

Thanks in advance

Could it be a British/UK 6 sheet (which can be 4 sheets in actuality)?

I would think it was described as a "4 sheet" because it is in four pieces.

It is in 4 pieces, i hope the pictures say a little more.
Sorry about the mess, as the attic isn't done yet and there's piles of pop culture stuff laying around...

My guess is that it's incomplete, if you look at the top of the poster, it's looks like there should be another 2 pieces to complete it, but as i can't find any info on 4 sheets or 6 sheets of this poster, i hope you guys got a clue.

What are the dimensions?  It definitely looks like it could be a 6-sheet with the top missing.  However, there would have to have been two styles...

It's 2 by 2 meters, i'll also contact the seller i got it from. Even if it's an incomplete poster, it looks great on my wall. Couldn't display it either if it was even bigger.

Sure sounds like a 6-sheet (81"x81"). I think 6 sheets wee originally printed on 6 pieces of paper, but later they started printing on on 4 pieces (2 larger, 2 smaller). However, I know really late 3-sheets (70s?) were sometimes printed on a single piece of paper. Is your poster printed on two pieces meant to overlap side-by-side?

Wilco,

Your photo here looks to be showing a top, white border, about 1/2" wide. Is that what we are seeing?

Certainly looks like this could be another style of 6 sheet, with the dimensions you gave, too (in inches = 78.7 x 78.7).

If incomplete, those measurements wouldn't be identical.

Very cool piece!  thumbup

Sorry, I missed where you write it is in 4 pieces. If so it is almost certainly a 6-sheet at those dimensions. Nice pick up!

Great poster for sure, it's an overlapping poster indeed. 2 large pieces and 2 smaller pieces. I've sent my contact a mail, perhaps he still has the missing pieces. Would be great. But still, i like it as it is right now.

For real? The top seems a bit off, as in the one sheet, the square in the poster is a whole.

It is like erik1925 asked. Is there a white border at the top? It looks to be complete. Nice pickup.

Any guesses on the value of this poster?

Has it been kept in a smoke free, pet free, low UV, low temperature fluctuation, ideal humidity, low dust, low splash, minimal folding environment for at least the past 8 years?

Steve can you please describe a 'high splash' environment?

Even in mint condition I wouldn't expect this poster to be worth all that much. If you look at other large-format posters that were sold at eMovie (3-sheets, UK 40x60) they usually go for about $50-$150... I would expect your six sheet to bring about the same. It's maybe a bit counterintuitive, but more often than not one sheets will sell for more than larger posters. Only in very rare circumstances will three sheets or six sheets sell for more… and even then its usually with much older posters (40s, 50s).
