Not many pictures I know of with Eastern Europeans in action. If anyone knows of others please post them here. Thanks!

I find that interesting for a strange reason.  Polish posters always look stunning when you see them at auction, but they kind of get lost in the mishmash when bunched up like that.  US posters actually do better in groups.

Are those not Polish travel posters?

Yes, mostly travel and recreation posters.  I'm guessing that is from a train station.

My favorite is the hunting poster with the deer in the upper row center.  I think what is lost in this B&W image is the bold colors in most Polish designs.  It's easy to see this poster and picture grey skies and sad people being oppressed by a communist system.  In reality that wall is probably more akin to a Warhol gallery with each of the posters having colors something like this:

More cool pictures from this thread: http://www.universalmonsterarmy.com/forum/index.php?topic=19842.90

Has this '52 release photo been posted in this thread?  Even if so, I feel like the quality is very good on this one... you can easily make out the posters.

It's really an amazing thread... I only posted a handful of pictures from 3 of the 13 pages!

I have never seen this GWTW poster at auction

Or these ones. Assume Gable's face - the one below at the door is a 6 sheet?

Love that poster too Matt (and Ari)!

And thanks for sharing the images from that thread.  What amazes me is that we tend to think of posters (in all their various sizes) as being the driving advertisement for films but really these photos show that a lot of the theatre frontage was improvised - 'home made' really - and any official posters were just complimentary to the whole ensemble.  It would be something special to experience displays like that nowadays...

Maybe T will start collecting locally-made, one-off displays like these?  You know... True art, not the mass produced crap we get hot over  ;D

Only if they're signed and hung in a gallery.  Because nothing can be considered art until it is hanging by some wire

US OS for All Quiet on the Western Front is in the upper right corner, back wall, to the right of Invisible Man OS.

from a great photo essay of NYC in the 1970s

http://www.vintag.es/2015/02/50-amazing-color-photographs-of-new.html

there are great memories for me in a number of these pictures including the one that shows the Palladium theatre on 14th st where I saw hundreds of concerts from Zappa to Tom Petty to Patti Smith, Hot Tuna, the Pretenders and so many more. They had concerts from Thursday to Sunday and I would have been there all 4 days many times

but this pic of Times Square in 1970 is for this post.
