Again, I thought I was done, but I'm not...

Here's one I've been trying to get for as long as I've been collecting, but I never liked the price, which can be quite excessive.  Finally worked out a deal with one of my providers and it is mine.

The catch...  It is linenbacked...  puke2 and I won't get it until February, since my guy is traveling the world until then.  But I paid for it today, so I'm including it to my 2012 purchases.

Thierry pulls off the best poster purchase of the year!  It's the first-release too, even more impressive....

47x63in.

Thanks Mel.  I personally think that my Gone With the Wind 2 panels is better.  It is certainly much rarer than the Belle et la Bête (and was more expensive).  I know I will never be able to find an original GWtW again, while I will be able to find a Belle et la Bête if I pay the price.  My main thing is that I didn't want to spend $10,000 on it, and I didn't.

Nice pick up T. I lucked my way into a re-release 1p a few years back. Gorgeous image -- I've heard the printing on the original that you have is even better. Congrats.

Well damn Shazam, the 1946 first release (left) truly is superior.  I never noticed before but the 1951 re-release (right) is completely redrawn, less colorful, and slightly less detailed, although still exceptional:

I had a couple of good ones early in the year but then I got busy with other things (like $1000 fake toys). I do have a few later purchases to photograph including some Japanese girl-gang movies and an almost complete collection of promo paper for Ingmar Berman's MONIKA THE STORY OF A BAD GIRL - maybe if I get out the camera over the holidays...

Rumble, I really liked your Shrew poster.  I have always found that poster to be one that really catches your attention.  And IIRC, it is not a wallet buster which is another plus.

T, did you get the Belle poster from Ralph since it was one of the throw-ins in his purchase this week?

No idea who Ralph is, and no, I got it from my own sources, like GWtW and anything else remotely nice I manage to get.  Completely off the radar.

I am going to pull a Thierry and post one that I just got. Its been a unicorn to me and even more desirable ever since that damn quad auction where I only missed by $1500  :P on it and the TCAT in the middle of the night...  I also found out I had missed one on emovie? Sleeping I guess... So, I wasn't letting this one get away.  And as a PPP lieutenant, I have to arrest myself for overspending. A gift from my wife as she let me charge it to the good ol' MC (Since I am totally busted for the month and she remembers the 'waking her up in the middle of the night quad auction too').  :)

Before that, I had only seen it in a book.

Best on Title IMO and done w/ Green Fire... British Quad

I don't think it was re-drawn at all.  It looks like a poor contrast copy that required touch-ups, like the Beast's teeth.
It is magnificent T and should be framed once it arrives.

No idea who Ralph is

I believe Sean talks about the #1 poster buyer, Ralph Metropolis DeLuca

I know Michael DeLuca, who is a producer here in town... but not Ralph.  That's the extent of my poster collecting.

But I don't get the point of having a poster like that and not displaying it.  I know your motto but come on man!

I like to own.

In all fairness, though, we've been doing major construction and the only poster frame that I had is now stored in the garage.  So no posters in the house for quite some time.

Ditto. It's like it's going for a long prison sentence, never to see the light of day...  :'(  Oh well to each their own. I've got a lot of crap I've bought, stuffed in a box and never given a second glance, so it's not like we all don't do it to some extent, and some things you hold onto for investment sake.  Personally I like displaying my stuff, and buying more pricey stuff has lead to me weeding through all the stuff I've collected over the years and never paid much attention to and sell it to fund more expensive posters.  So I'm trying to start storing less and displaying more, and in the process getting rid of a bunch of crap, it's a new beginning... I hope.
