well, the auction isn't over yet Paul.. It may go higher, it may sell for where it is (unlikely)

but it is still an example of rarity not necccessarily translating into "uber-expensive"
I'd venture to say that most "rare" posters actually only sell below $500 in all sizes because most rare posters are pre-1940 and there is an awful lot that can be gotten for $200 or less that are nearly impossible to find. That lobby card I added to my collection from Just Imagine (1930) didn't cost me a bundle (however a bundle is a subjective term. someone who only makes a few hundred a week a bundle is $50. someone who makes $100 a week $5 can be a bundle. definitely a subjective definition) and it may actually be the only one card that has been sold & resold, or at the very best I can say that fewer than 5 are known to exist. That's very rare (and it's mine.. all mine hahahahahahahahahahaha)

Exactly Rich. I have some pieces which I purchased maybe 15 years ago and have never seen another example, but if I went to sell mine it probably wouldn't go for $20.

BTW, nice "Just Imagine" piece..........................fucker.  ;D

Plenty of things that are rare that are worth nothing.
Even unique.

For a poster from 48, it sure is in great condition.  Those colors look super bright!

All I can say is WOW!..  bed1

A French 2P for Dracula's Daughter (Universal, 1936).

Done brilliantly, IMO, by artist, Joseph Koutachy.

*care of Benito, of course. And available for $21,000.00  cheers

Kirk Hammond has a series of short Q&A vids on youtube, where he answers fans' questions.

How cool is it to see a selection of his Uni horror posters on display on the wall behind him. From The Mummy 3-sh, to the US OS for The Black Cat.

Nice inserts, too!  ;)

Looking good, have to say.

In Heritage's upcoming signature auction there is a lot of several stills from the 1938 showing of Dracula/Frankenstein and a few from The Wolf Man.  Lines of people around the block and several posters can be seen in the photos.

Agreed - that auction might deserve it's own thread. The amount of rarely seen material in it is staggering.

The 1951 Realart RR OS for Frankenstein. But the Monster's head is that of Karloff from Bride Of Frank, with some touch ups and shading to his forehead & hairline (they somewhat "added" the hair back) and made less obvious the burn mark on the right side of his face and cheek.
