I have had a lot of Charlie dislikes the term linenbacked posters, but I haven't had much art recreation done. I do have a 6 sheet with an area the size of a baseball recreated. Heritage sold me the poster as Mint obviously not seeing the recreation and I missed it for some while too - it was very well done. Sure my expectation may be too high, I dont know, though I would think recreating text should be able to be more accurately done than the below example and a plastic circle template like used in schools could get the circle correct. I guess I expect too much from professionals!

Like I said they look a lot better, so well done. It does make me very hesitant of buying linenbacked posters knowing all the sins they can hide. I try to must ensure that I get the opportunity to inspect them in person before parting with cash. Note to self... good luck with that one.

Was the logo drawn in or was it a piece from another poster.  If it was another piece it could simply be a resizing issue...

Think a reminder is in order of what it looked like prior to being restored:

Presumably Mario tried to save as much of the original (tattered, dirty, misaligned) paper at that location as possible

Or if you'd like how about some kudos on the work done to replace the 'Not Suitable for General Exhibition' circle

Fair enough Steve but I challenge others to post CLOSE UP photos of any restoration they have requested

They look great, Chris.
Except for that Forbidden Planet daybill.
Colors are all wrong.
Send it here, so I can examine it further.

Well Ted I think you're being facetious BUT the colours ARE actually different vs. an Australia daybill with the ratings triangle present on it!  (This example being an NZ daybill)

New Zealand?  Cough. Cough..
Well, that might explain it.
Cough. Cough...
Still think you should send it along so I can confer with my resident Kiwi.
Its a sordid mess.
Cough...cough...
We'll get it right once paper is in hand.

(This example being an NZ daybill)

Why oh why is the Y missing? Was it uncirculated to theatres, the poster never reached the censors yet?

It is a good question Steve since, based on the poster's pre-restoration condition, it was clearly used!

Maybe it didnt make it to NZ, fell of the truck & stayed in OZ?

What is the process: Printer prints OZ version, modifies and prints NZ version, sends NZ version to NZ where presumably someone stamps it with Y then distributed to theatres?

Glass Key - After

And a comparison to an un-restored copy (detail):

Yes the Glass Key was printed that way and was not trimmed.  Just a misalignment on the printing press or the cutting afterwards.  Many Richardson Studio daybills are like that

Bruce is selling one that is pre-restoration and appears to be fully framed.  No left hand full bleed.

Seems to be a one-off anomaly.

First and foremost I'd like to thanks Diane and Studio C for their jollyfine work in restoring my 39 Hunckback Quad back to it's former glory..

As some long time members may remember it turned up at my house in shards of glass, as the seller sent it in a frame that still had glass in..

it had had a hard life, the boarders were cut off to fit the frame, it was stuck to board, and the missing paper was coloured in with what seemed like felt pen. Any way it turned up this week after having a trip to the U.S.    I don't have the pics with all the glass, as they were on my first Bucket account from which I've lost all those pics, but here's the journey to a jollynice looking poster..

This was it out of the damaged frame.

I managed to get it off the board so it could be sent to the U.S. folded/cheaper...

This is the board it was stuck to, you can see where the colouring in was..

And this is it now back from Studio C...

And in it's new sleeve sat in front of the bedroom TV.

It's more than a Hobby...

I did hang on for a few years years Jeff, but well worth the wait.

And I'm glad I never had it done over here, Studio C did a first rate job on it.
