Well, I continue to be impressed and and amazed.

I find myself playing catch up with a number of items I didn't even know existed.  I doubt I will find this one!

Thank you.
I didn't know it existed until I saw it!

I also don't have the time to search high and low now, so when opportunities come along I grab them with both hands.
Best wishes,
Adam

Indeed this TSWLM is rare but it did feature in Thomas Nixdorfs excellent book on Bond posters. There was also a similar 'calendar' style quad issued for Moonraker which also very rarely surfaces.

Judging by the style and colour palette I suspect these were produced by the same people who issued the 'Myler Haley' sets.

That is quite correct - the first time I knew of it when I saw it in the book.
Looking at it right now again.

His book is very good, and contains posters from collections that are undoubtedly amongst the best in the world.

Hmmmm, I wonder if Terry will let me get away with saying that was a deliberate mistake?  ;D

As for Nixdorf's book, it's a shame it never got a (well deserved) wider release beyond Germany as it contains some interesting interviews and information besides all the wonderful posters.

So who got this one?

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=120767842697

A simply stunning price.  And I thought my silly bid, which came second, would have been way over the top.

I agree with you.
The problem was translating the book and then sorting all the legalities in the UK & US.
Hopefully, something will come in the future.

I think Jonny has the hump - see Post Auction thread lol.
Mighty bid Simes, but like I said in the other thread, I reckoned £500-900 is what it would go for, so not surprised you bid £990.00!
This is a completest's piece more than anything, in my opinion.
Best wishes,
Adam

Agreed that this is one for the completist and may even warrant that type of figure if the art was substantially different or unique but what is crazy (imo) is that for possibly treble that amount (on a good day) you could buy the original.

Will be interesting to see if others do now surface along with the Goldfinger and TSWLM.

I stuck that amount forward thinking that would cover an element of craziness - and also thinking that it would go for £300ish.

Clearly I was wrong.

I think the only three posters from Park Circus were the aforementioned Spy, Gf and Russia. I am not aware of thre being any others.

I have a question on FRWL for you experts.
I recently got in a lobby set where the Rose coloring was way more intense than any other FRWL cards I remember having (I know there are both B&W sets and tinted sets), so I checked them with the Heritage archives to compare.
Not only are these much pinker than those (and others I remember having), but the card numbering is different - same scenes but different numbers and placement.
Check out these two below for an example, The numbers are below the word "Bond" instead of further to the right and under "Technicolor" and don't match the #1 and #8 I am more familiar with (and the scans didn't come out nearly as pink as the cards really are).
Anyone else have these different numbers?

Hi,

I have varyingly tinted cards.

Also, Bond in bed as Nos 3 and 4. Helicopter chase as Nos 2 and 3.  I wasn't aware of other varying numbers.

Cheers.

There was the following issues:
GF
TSWLM
FRWL
and a combined poster, which is black.

I don't know of anyone with the full set.
Personally, the full set IMO would be worth around £1500ish.

I'll have to have a look at my FRWL LC Set to see what mine are like!
Best wishes,
Adam

Not sure I follow.

Sorry Simes.
I meant that I will have a look at the FRWL cards for variations as you and Crowzilla have noted.

Oh, here is that other Park Circus UK Quad:

Ah yes - I have that too, but did forget it.

I note on your site though that you had yet another variation of of a Festival quad from '72.  Another to add to the list of those never before seen.

Yeah, I know which one you talk about.
One of my mates has a picture from a cinema in London with that very poster in a light box of sorts.

Here is a rare Cannes Film Festival French Petite from 1985 (I bet Thierry has this as I think he likes these sort of posters, although I could be wrong!?):

Are you sure that isn't a Thierry hates "French Grande" poster?

OK Bond experts.  Emovie has labeled this LB poster as a 1980 restrike.  What's your analysis?  (I've emailed mine to someone on the board and will post later).

Don't know... according to MPA if it has:

  • the GAU logo with NSS paragraph, # and stamp on the back, it the original US printing.
  • the GAU logo with no NSS details and no rating, it is the original int'l printing.
  • the LPIU logo with no NSS, block print, no stamp and is reverse folded, it is the 80s re-release.

This looks like it could be the original int'l printing, but it doesn't have the GAU logo or framers marks in the corners.  Do you know a different write-up explaining the differences?

DAF comparison at the bottom: http://movieposterauthenticating.com/wordpress/james-bond/james-bond-1-sheet-1980-re-releases/
