LAMP International Poster Index

24 SHEET

A Twenty Four sheet is a size of poster that is approximately 24 times the size of the one sheet. This statement alone would seem to be a very simple and easy to understand explanation.... HOWEVER... it's not quite that simple.

The world's first 24 Sheet was displayed at the Paris Exposition of 1889 by Morgan Litho. This gained them worldwide attention and established Morgan as a major lithographer in the industry.

In the US the 24 sheet normally measures 108"x246", and is used for billboard advertising, although in older days some were placed on the sides of large buildings and barns. They come in a number of pieces and are placed together like a puzzle. Their artwork is designed to catch the attention of motorists as they drive by. They are issued primarily for major motion pictures.

Because they are made of paper stock and glued onto the billboard, few survive from having to tear them off to replace them with the newer piece.

For more on this size see the US article on Twenty Four Sheet.

In the UK, however a twenty four sheet is a COMPLETELY different size AND can get quite confusing. The explanation would STILL be the same.. that it is approximately 24 times the size of the one sheet... BUT it then depends on what you determine the one sheet to be. What we call a 24 sheet, the British film industry calls a 48 sheet.

For more information on this size, see our UK article on the 48 Sheet

Thunderball 24 sheet - not something you see every day!

Sold for the small price of $12,000, hope somebody displays it....

Picked up a Moonraker international, now have all the variant one sheets, plus the one stop (which I'm going to separate into two one sheets at some point):

It feels like sacrilege, but I HAVE noticed that incomplete one-stops with cool images sell for FAR more than complete ones!

Obviously no one is going to display a complete one, so I am going to start asking my consignors if I can "separate" any new ones I am sent, to get them more money!

Not sure if you're a completist, but there are two 1-Stops, two variations of 'Bond shooting into space', and four versions of 'Bond surrounded by girls'.

The International version of Bond shooting into space excludes the tagline and the date.

As for the 'girls', the taglines include, Blasting off Soon / this Summer / in June and as above, an International version with no tagline or date.

Cheers.

As a lobby card fan, and someone focused more so on this area, I did separate mine into 1 Sheets and 'sets of cards'.

I am sure I am alone in this practice, but this Was the intended practice, I believe.

And then of course, there is the Review one sheet...

And if one is really nuts, then there are minor credits variations between what appears to be the final 1 sheet on the second 1 Stop poster and the actual final release 1 sheet.

And that is the ratings box.

I'm done - sorry for the rambling.

But you don't have the mini US one sheet version which somehow I ended up with three rolled copies in mint condition...  The guy had a roll of fifty or something and just peeled off three... only Roger Moore Bond paper I own... so neener neener...

Man that Texas Tall Boy Rita with dinner is making me fiesty....

Silence, that sixer is killer.

Did you purchase it backed or did you have the work done?

I purchased the six sheet for YOLT already backed, because its going to be framed in the next few weeks so having it backed already just made things easier for me. PLus, i knew if i purchased it unbacked. I would find myself debating on whether or not i should have it backed.

Maybe old news to some but I did not know that the studio restruck the 1973 Live and Let Die poster in 1980 but 'tis true.  Check out the GAU logo in the middle bottom:

The MPA authentication on the 1980 reprints does NOT mention the LALD restrike:

It's the Utah variant.
