They asked me to provide images for the book, but couldn't afford to pay "much" ended up a couple of hundred bucks on offer or something, for over 150 images, many posters that took me years to find. End of the day, its not worth it, a frind of mine works for a company that sells images for books, whatever, and he laughed. I would love to work with Hammer but over 15 years of putting together a collection, then spending many hours taking pictures, to get a couple of hundred bucks, forget it.
Standard operational bullshit, using collectors enthusiasm to cut corners.
They can't get what they want for free or minimal cost as Ari quotes, they are still going to happily
pay the fees of a Ron Grant Archive or the like.
I ran an extensive specialist picture library for years, supplying magazines and books both in the UK and
Australia as well as the video industry when they got stuck. No one quibbled over fees.
Ari was quite right to take the tack he did.
