Rick's US collection
« on: September 19, 2011, 12:25:38 AM »
I thought it might best to separate my Australian and `foreign' (i.e. US) collections.
Here are some from the US.

i think i'll let those in the cabinet stay there, nothing of great interest, though occasionally I'll come across something I had forgotten about!

Here are some more.

Stunning collection Rick, love the storage cabinet too!

That 'Frogs' is scary and hilarious in equal measure... the two King Kong cards (are they lobby cards?) must be one feather away from a hens tooth, but I'm not really that clued up on them!

Yes the King Kongs are lobby cards, '48 and '56 re-releases I think.

I get some, I know you love Elvis, but I don’t get any theme, although I love a lot of them (just not elvis)

There is no theme Ari, just what I like. I mostly go for horror/sci as a genre but also Elvis, John Wayne, Eastwood and individual movies that I like.
Sometimes I might not like the movie but like the posters (Gone with the Wind for example).

I had this 1/2 sheet many years ago.
Just goes to show that you can't trust kids with anything.
Great poster, Rick!

No need, the Forbidden Planet is a TV reissue from the 90s, still very nice!

What kind of markings does yours have?  I have one which turns out to be a filmprints repro that had a very limited printing of 100 copies.

Here is a thread pointer where I asked about it: http://www.allposterforum.com/index.php/topic,1926.0.html

Hi
I can dig it out and check the markings. Thanks for the links. I bought it off Rich at movieposterbid.com and there was a fair bit of interest in it at the time. It is definitely a keeper for me!

What did the kids do, dare I ask?

Don't worry, all our posters are just getting older and decaying. Did you own a US Forbidden Planet half sheet? Congratulations. You have had the luxury to say you have owned one where most of us in reality are never likely to.  thumbup

Oh, nice ones Rick... so many goodies, a bit overwhelming where to start

I was the kid and -- before I had any idea what these posters were worth -- I traded not one, but two FB one sheets and 2 FB half sheets (both A and B styles) and a pile of Harryhausen posters, including that BEAST 1/2 sheet.
I traded them for comic books BTW, which I got sick of shortly afterwards.  puke

I do like how Rick's collection is loosely horror/sci-fi based, but very random. Kind of like my own.

Most enjoyable Rick clap  looking forward to the next posts...
