I agree, but I also know what it is to strain to buy a $22 poster and every little measure helps so I'd like to see more consideration whether every body here cruises Bruce's or not.  I can't count the times I've forgotten a poster I was going to bid on Bruce's. A live auction posts are a reminder.

What is the gain in asking today, Mel? What's the benefit of discussing any poster today instead of after auction? Why not wait a week as a courtesy to others, just in case, it's of help to them?

Ok, I guess I deserve the beating - THIS TIME!

I agree in part as well, but I also know what it's like trying to buy posters in HS and college without having the income of someone in their 40s and 50s so tell me this..

What is the benefit in Mel, or anyone, receiving an answer now as opposed to this coming Thursday post auction? What's one substantive reason why it can't wait a week? Astound me, King Slut. Talking posters post-auction is more fun anyway. Why can it not wait in your view?

Well, butt-munch, it could be that the person wants to know more about the poster BEFORE buying it, rather than waiting AFTER buying it to ask that ridiculous post-coital question, do you think I got a good deal?

Oh, and butt-munch?  Like my nifty new avatar in honor of your denigration of my highness?
Best regards,

Holiday

Well, dick-nose, in this case Mel already owns the poster he's inquiring about but I certainly understand your point, in general, though I haven't seen anyone make the post a question during auction and watch it disappear mistake in over a year.

I asked you because your day dream Heritage auction was as brilliant. And you have to be the collector logging in to see two (one Italian and one Japanese) of the 5 posters you're going to be bidding in that sig auction in a thread so some butt-munch on a forum can enjoy 4 minutes of fleeting poster talk fun. It's just as fun to talk about _after_ the auction. Ask anyone with patience and they'll say the same. That's all. Just some thoughts, Captain.

Depending on where your putting that particular nose, could be extremely disadvantageous to say the least!

Mel, from what I know about this design, it's a single-sided 27x40 issued to Disney employees??  It wasn't used theatrically but there seem to be an awful lot of them around for what was originally billed as a studio exclusive.

For sure. The question is what should be on the movie poster for that film? Holiday's dick-nosed mug in a lightbox? Or maybe lenticular where it goes from flaccid to coming at you as you walk by it?

Quote from: MoviePosterBid.com on January 21, 2010, 10:59:31 PM[/url]</div><div class="quote">The Metropolis insert will probably end up in the $75k-125k range. It is different than the other paper. The King Kong is 1938 and Morrie Everett sold one in one of his auctions at Cinevent for $6-8k maybe 4 years ago
Has anyone told Heritage that it's from '38, because their auction description indicates '33

Apparently I am mistaken Angelo..
I spoke with Sean, then John Ours who did a search of their records on the Cinevent auctions, the Swedish poster they sold is this one, which is the 1938 re-issue:

and the reason I was confused is that several years back, I was offered the 1933 poster from a dealer in Sweden

I apologize to anyone who was mislead by the previous comment

Whoa - a Rocky II "Fight Poster" style just went for $650.

Heritage sold a couple of these 2-3 years ago in the $150 range.

Not sure what to tell you Mel... I guess I'm never surprised when one person is willing to shell out big bucks for something they really want.  But is does produce interesting results when, on an off chance, there happen to be two such people bidding on the same auction!

On another note... who wants to take bets on whether or not I bought an original DS unfolded Unforgiven teaser tonight?  I figure if nothing else, at least I'll get a nice cheap snap-frame out of it!  Does anyone know if full size DS reprints are available for this teaser poster?

I was the underbidder on the rocky 2 fight poster. We sold the rolled one we had and we have a client looking for one.

Here it is on eBay: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=300409679841
I was the under-bidder (pun intended). Damn it. It was in good condition too! My bid doubled the final price.

Settled a few mins later for some pulp instead:

many of you may not know that for years I was the pre-eminent dealer of original comic art

I also had one of the top collections.

among the material I used to have were many Famous Monsters covers by Gogos. My earliest cover was #9 and I had many of the best pieces
#12, 16, 112.. I could list them for a while much to the awe of you fellers

I don't have any of them anymore.. but I do have transparencies.

I also have a transparency of this piece that I used to own.. sold it for $10k in 1994

sorry I had to watermark it.. I plan on reprinting it in the appropriate size at some point

this art was 30 inches hi.. I had it framed for a long time before I sold it way back when..

enjoy . this was scanned directly from the original before I shipped it out back in '94
