I'm pretty good at knowing when to throw in the towel, but yeah, a lot.  I think posters in general are overpriced, especially since they are free advertisement.  But never by multiple thousands.

There was a phone bidding war on Sat on this one. Someone found it difficult to "let it go" ... yes...that happens...

It went for around $7000

Unfortunately most of these Swedish lithos from the late 20's are on a very thin paper that usually has condition and advanced aging problems...if they are linenbacked then there is typically a decent amount of restoration and the fold lines were separating....I owned several and eventually sold them...this group that Heritage sold was unusual because the condition was nice and they were unbacked...

You want to store these flat...folding and unfolding them is a dangerous proposition...I would shrink wrap them on acid free materials so you can handle them without damaging..

Yah. I have a number of Swede posters from the 20s and the paper is low opacity, almost tracing paper-like. but it's actually not too difficult to find unfolded examples of even 20s posters - which is more than ideal.

Those Red Shoes were staggeringly beautiful.  Not a fan of most of the paper on that film, but those, oh my...

+1

Very sweet indeed!

Hey evryone. Quasi-newbie here. Just got back into things after 20 or so years away. Anyway, here is a 20's Sweedish poster I just picked up. Had been folded but came to me rolled.

Edit: Actually 1918.

One has sold previously $840 at https://www.emovieposter.com/agallery/archiveitem/8469143.html

That was probably the marker.

Am not really up on this or other such BTTF posters, but always read of their stories.

On the emp site, "The VHS video box for the first movie contained an order form for this poster, but it was almost immediately sold out and the company went out of business!"

How does a company immediately sell out of stock, and then immediately go out of business?  Cash flow?  Curious about this if anyone has info.  As for the poster, was also not aware commercial film posters could go for so much - bearing in mind the chaps and chapesses on this site are all about originality.

The BTTF is probably a 750-1000 retail item at this point, I wouldnt sell for under 1000. I have seen 5 or less in the past 15 years that I recall. Colin had one that sold for 500, Bruce, this one (which might be the one Bruce sold, looked like Bruces craft paper ship job this one was laying on) , and I believe the BTTF website had a couple at one point that didnt last long. Tough poster to come by.

Yes, this was a holy grail poster for me until I got one a few years ago. The recent price paid for one is consistent with its rarity and demand.

Seemed a bit on the extreme side to me being a non theatrical poster but then again I am a Star Wars nut with an issue I am working on with that whole completion thing and have spent some insane numbers on pieces there so can understand.

I will cry a river over this. Sold for $789. Poster from the 1936 Summer Olympics. Berlin. Jesse Owens teaching  Hitler a lesson he never forgot. The World watching. And Rosa didn't bid for this poster.
