I liked how the seller had the first pic of the insert with the bottom out of the image.
once I saw the damage, I lost all interest

No problem Rosa. Just seconds ago I found a marvelous poster I have been looking for years. And I didn't spent a 10th part of what that insert sold for.
I am a happy bastard right now!!!!!!!

Don't tease us, punk.
Give us a title.

It's "Der Wurger geht durch die stadt" or "El vampiro negro"
Got me the german A0, for this argentinean remake of the german "M" (Fritz Lang)

Didn't even know how it looked. First one I see since I started looking for it, 6 years ago.

Great design.
I haven't watched that version.
How does it stack up?

It's great Ted. Really well done. Sadly, there's no good copies of the film around...

Sure does resemble Lorre, doesn't he?
Congratulations on scoring that German poster, Matias.
It is striking.

Anyone know exactly what this one is for The Fifth Element?  According to the seller, it's 76x51 cm (?) or about 30x20 in. (the size of a double crown) and "plasticized."  Maybe a lenticular?

I didn't see it until after the auction ended, otherwise I may have bid on it.

Yeah, it seems to be very rare.  On the close-up photos, it appears to be a plastic material, so maybe it's a double crown lenticular.

I am familar with that lenticular like plastic. Its very thin and the bubbles really looks good. There not a white backing in it.  I have had promotional bookmarks and small movie promo items with that exact plastic. I imagine the black elements are applied on and are kinda like a vinyl sticker material.

Impressive prices for these two that ended at eMovie tonight.

This Star Wars 30x40, in good-very good condition, sold for $950.  I think they usually sell for about 1/4 of that in similar condition.  Is it a rare printing or something?

This Lolita French 1 panel reproduction sold for $682.

No idea on the Lolita repop going so high, but the SW 30x40 is just the latest splash made by movieman.

I don't recall movieman's wins at eMovie, but it's interesting to see some familiar usernames of the folks bidding.

Ne436820 was bidding on a lot of stuff tonight, and won the Lolita repro.  He and one other bidder propelled the price from $36 to $682.  :o

I will never understand why anyone spends any kind of money on 30x40in posters.  Those white borders are a killer, imo.

This said, I did buy my FIRST and probably LAST 40x30in poster tonight at Emovie.  I only bought it because the image is actually framed equally within the border.

Oh, and because it's Bardot.

Now on the Lolita, the price is fair.  It is a classic image and the original pretty much doesn't exist.  The "repro" is the only available imagery by Soubie and is pretty rare itself.

The price on the Lolita repro. makes a little more sense now.  thumbup

That 30x40 featuring Ms. Bardot is a beaut.

I'm surprised that a lot of 30x40s are not as popular as one sheets, although there were some good results for them at eMovie tonight.

I like 30 x 40 format a lot. Are they always on thicker stock or is just the ones I have?

I only have 3 or 4, but I like the thicker paper and also that they're usually rolled (for titles where the rolled one sheet is too rare/pricey for me). The borders don't bother me, but I can see how they're a bit like love handles on a one sheet.

As Tob said, the fact that they were issued rolled is cool.  Also, there (currently) are not fakes/bootlegs/etc. for them (and if there are, I think they would be easily identifiable).  The search for them is fun, as they're not as common as one sheets, especially in good condition.  The durable cardstock makes them higher quality than one sheets and many other formats.

I think they were made for theater owners to have another option to advertise the films.  Here is a good article from LAMP:

Same stock as 40x60s, inserts, and half sheets...generally speaking.
