I'd just like to say to Charlies post, and I've said it before.  Poster snobbery,  and believe me I know, I'm in my 40th year of collecting.

And Rosa, you can't make a statement like that without pics to back it up... ;)

Paul.. i think you are thinking about that "other" photo hosting forum... LOL

The one that's a bit less stuffy...

Actually it's not uncommon for it to go for 1500......prolly a new record for this toy.

Ultimate Warrior also goes for around 500-700 , depending on shape.

I wonder how many posters have been sold using their new "make an offer" feature?

Great Deliverance poster by the way... That's the only US poster I know of that used the shotgun art. Given the caliber/importance of the movie, I'm guessing collectors are desperate for anything besides the lackluster 1-sheet art. I still wish they had used the int'l 3-sheet image on the US 1-sheet. That is a genius bit of art right there...

Not sure about the Make An Offer feature (though I think it is genius), but I know I have gotten lots of offers on items through it.
I know for some of their other departments it has produced some big returns.

And I agree - cool Deliverance poster

Posters are just too expensive nowadays.  I bid $280 and it didn't even register.  Whatever.

I agree, same people chasing the same 2% of posters listed. Good titles are going crazy, marginal stuff you cant give away.

its funny, i was thinking the other night that i dont have ANY of the titles that you are supposed to have if you collect posters.
such as apocalypse now and scarface. although i do have a taxi driver but i reckon thats the only one i do have. its not even because i think they are too expensive [which they are]. but because i usually buy what i think is much more interesting looking paper.
wonder how many other people on here dont actively seek or already have seeked out that elusive 2%???
I don't know much, but i do know what my eyes are telling me!

Collect what you like not what you think other people like is a motto of many of us...

Except those 5 star collectors - they are all about that 2%

Where did this line of thinking ever originate? From someone on APF?

Since when is one is supposed to have any particular poster in his / her collection, if one collects posters?

Collect what you like, what appeals to your eye, be it the film, director, actor, genre, country etc.

There is NO set list of what anyone must have. That's just pure nonsense, imo.

Some smart people on this forum, I reckon.  I totally agree with the above.  I own quite a few posters, some cost me multiple $1000s, others cost me $1.  Some I got for free.  Some are rare, others I could wipe my ass with.  But in the end, I like them all.  They are MY collection.  And I will never say it enough: who gives a shit what other people think.

my thinking comes from watching auctions come and go. and seeing the same titles reaching ever more ludicrous prices all the time.
and i dont care what people think about what rubbish i buy, same way i never did when i was buying records.
i have always sought out the obscure and relatively unknown which also leads to unknown numbers when coming to sales and buying?
some things you can get for nothing, other things i would really like but i think they are just too pricey to justify when i can find another poster for some crazy ass movie no one has heard of and there fore never bids on.

and if i was smart and buying for investment i would buy as many apocalypse now and taxi drivers i could find at relatively expensive prices because in 10 years they will be a damn site more than they are now, so i agree with you T :)

Do pray tell what release this is? Note the insertion of the odd-colored gray character in the middle left.

This very rare "Deep Throat" vertical half sheet (22x28) sold for a bargain $320, 20% of previous auction prices:

Nobody knows what this is, maybe it's a very early video poster, maybe a premiere poster:
