Im always happy to see someone is crazier.

Ya thats pretty fucked up about the Lucky Strike. I am still pretty much a newb but everything I have picked up on, know and have seen tells me that something just isnt right. That poster isnt that rare. I have seen it a million times now.

You've seen the reprints a million times now.  While the real one is not particularly rare, it's not that common either.  The lucky strikes reprints are legend.  Stick around and you'll figure out why soon enough. Can anyone say Professor Powers?!
Best regards,

Holiday

I consigned 93 of the posters sold yesterday and will be getting a pretty decent check from EMP, so consignment is working well for me and I can recommend EMP if you're considering larger consignments. The ones I consigned were fine but I was never going to display them again, so what's the point of keeping them around? I'll probably continue to whittle my collection (now down to 1,000 from 1,500 or so total) down to 500 or so permanent keepers. We'll see...

There's only remorse IF the prices continue to climb. ;)

Ive been meaning to go through my stuff and see whats worthy of consigning. My taste are mostly modern .. so maybe now is a good time to part with a few items that will never see the light of day in my flat file. :)

Well I have my pieces that Ill never let go.. but I have decided instead of having all of these posters that may or may not be valuable stored away I could reallocate those funds to something that I can enjoy a bit more like extended vacations overseas. Ive been thinking about a safari trip to Africa but never "had the money" .. but in reality if I stopped buying the hundreds of $30 posters for every new release each year I could have paid for a trip a long time ago. :P So now I'm thinking I can sell them off for half of what I spent on them and be closer to another trip. I have to start planning my trip to TIFF again next year soon too! ;) I guess at some point I had the realization that life experiences are more valuable than awesome posters that just sit in a file cabinet waiting for me to die so that my family (who couldn't care less about movie art) starts going through them to sell them off! :P

I don't spend that much on posters, it's all in proportion. I make sure everything is paid for, from bills, cars, House repairs to Holidays. Then what ever is left in the pot is for posters..

We have spent a fair bit on the house over the last 2/3 years, so my spending has been down a fair bit. Unfortunately, we're doing the Kitchen now, so I'm in the Cheap section... ;)

Yvonne is always saying, sell some doubles, or ones I'm not bothered with..... I'll see how it goes.....  coffee

Wise words, truly.  The more I collect, the more I realize that I only need like a handful of posters to rotate out and put up on my wall to enjoy.  I've purged most of my posters, and only kept the ones I really love and want to see up.  I'm down to like 30 posters, and would like to keep my collection below 50.  Anymore, to me at least, seems like hoarding:)  Who can truly enjoy thousands and thousands of posters??  Keep the essentials, and let the rest fall away, with the money falling into your pocket ;)

I have heard this a million times over the past 43 years (first comic books, then posters).

EVERY collector has a "life span". A very few die with their collections. Most suddenly have a "moment" when they realize they don't need it any more (usually they first slow down buying for a year or two), and then one day they give me a call, starting out, "I bet you never thought you would get this call from ME"!

Mel, what were your other realistic alternatives of what to do with those 93 posters if I wasn't here to send them to?

I totally agree with this. I don't buy a lot, I dont want to buy a lot.  Less is more for me.

What I have bought has been dictated by i) money ii) wall space to enjoy it iii) luck as i could find it.

I have a list, few posters, but those are the ones I really, really, really want. And that includes Way Down East, the one that escape this year.. oh well I might be able to buy one , someday i am not in a hurry.
