What's his connection?

He's not on the poster. He just likes to be on top of swingin' models  ;)

That is "Foundation and Earth" by Asimov.  In my teens and tweens I was just as obsessed with sci-fi/fantasy books as I am about posters today.  I probably bought 500-1000 of them but most are gone now - given away, lost, destroyed in floods, etc.  Nowadays I get all my books from the library.

Many boys in their early teens in the 70s were into their Sci-Fi books, I wonder if it is the same today? Although my memory is very faded the one book that I remember that seemed to have the best impact on my imagination was 'To Your Scattered Bodies Go' by Philip José Farmer (I am embarrassed to say I knew the surname was Farmer but just had to look up the rest). I could hardly tell you much of it now, but I just remember loving the book.

I had a friend whose entire family was like you - had hundreds and hundreds or more of titles on bookcases throughout the house, was like Sci-Fi Central!

By the way you should read "Ready Player One".....

I think the three books were titled "Foundation"  "Foundation and Empire" and "Second Foundation"

No, it was the order I stated.  I went to the wikipedia page here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Foundation_series

But to be fair, there was a 'Foundation and Earth' written years later.

I couldn't tell you about any o fthem today.. obviously I didn't like them as much as Raymond Chandler

I love Asimov, and Scattered bodies go (and the sequels) by PJ Farmer are great. He is an amazing author. Heinlein is still my favourite SF author. Also PK Dick, and anyone really wanting a good SF read try and find some Cordwainer Smith, amazing. I have many thousands of SF books (I HATE Fantasy btw). Prefer up to 70's, anything newer I rarely read, except the later Heinleins etc.

Shame they rarely make good SF films

It's a piece of paper... I thought the same thing at first, until I touched it.

Found this yesterday. Down here, most films -except big blockbusters- are first released in Buenos Aires (capital of the country and the city with most theaters). If they do good at the box-office, they are released later in other cities. The text says "simultaneosly with Buenos Aires"

Thanks Paul! I love snipes, and the stories behind them.

I think I already posted this somewhere. It has a big snipe (surely made by the same printing company that the poster) because the title in the poster was incorrect. It said "el alma y el monstruo" when it should have said "la dama y el monstruo", so they made the snipe with the correct words -and matching color-

That poster is a beauty, Matias!! Color matched snipe and all. The fact that it was printed in the same colors and font style (and by the same company, most likely), is a great little piece of added, cinematic ephemera.

The reason for the snipes is that the posters were already at theaters. They sent the snipes so they could be glued on the posters already in use. Then they would sometimes glue the snipes on the unused posters, or simply tuck them inside the folded posters.

Many times the need for the snipes were because of the credits (sometimes a name left off, sometimes on the size or placement of a name!).

I almost didn't buy this poster because of the snipe that spoils the artwork some what, but I came to my senses. Luckily I did buy it, as it's the only one I've ever seen...  And I have that piece of Cinema history that goes with the poster.
