Just saw this at Bruce's place.
French teaser for GRAVE OF THE VAMPIRE.  Bleccchhh!
Scary thing is someone is bidding on it.

The film is actually pretty good. But have I never seen an even half-decent poster for it.

I think it is really cool. But I get that only a few brave souls would ever display it.

I'm still trying to figure out what the red brush strokes signify.  The birth canal, maybe?

It almost looks like a real baby's image (I'm sure it's not, tho), that they quickly "added" lips, fangs, and eyes to, "in post."

I don't think this is too terrible...  Someone put some time into making that it...  I read up on the film and supposedly the baby was a victim of a rape and sucked blood from his mothers breast.  So could the red ring symbolize the breast...  And also kind of looks like a baby being born through a bloody you know... maybe representing a vampire being born versus created...  The strange thing is that the child in the movie is a boy so what is with the vale?

The film only cost 50K to make funny some list this poster for $200+ a poster sells for 1/2 of a percent of the films budget?

The veil and gown are most likely an infant burial garment of some kind.

And Bela only got paid $500 per week for Dracula, but I heard he stashed a load of posters in a loft somewhere.... ;)

You know all the times I've seen that picture, I've never noticed that Monocle around Bela's neck, clearly visible next to his Prince Albert......Most odd!

Paul, in a couple other shots I looked at, it seems that the monocle was tucked into the top of his vest, although it can be seen here, too. It's laying flat, so its the edge that is visible. :)

Corky Romano shoud be included.I'd post a pic but I don't want it near my photobucket.

While these posters are all horrible, nothing can top a 'Military' poster, just about any one of those win hands down!

Yes, Virginia, somebody paid $190 for this POS from Heritage this weekend:

To be "fair and balanced," I feel obligated to trash this dreadful one sheet for sale at EMP this week:

Skating stuff from the 80s is quite the ticket right now.  Skateboards of pretty much every brand are selling pretty darn high right now, which is surprising since back in the day there were only a few big brands that were highly sought after (Powell Peralta, Sims, Vision, maybe a couple others).  The skateboard guys are almost like the Mondo/print crowd in how intensely they bid on stuff, and it's kinda similar how they're really going after "reissue" boards, where limited editions are made from old graphics and they sell out in a few minutes.  Doesn't really surprise me that skating posters are selling at that price, especially that one since it is a classic from the 80s.  An article gave Thrashin' a very high review. http://www.fast-rewind.com/thrashin.htm

thrashin' was very popular at the time, in the skating scene, but for the dickwad, straight, clean cut rich skate kids. Like the ones that loved Tony Hawke.
Like BMX movies, these things will continue to get good $ compared ther ther quality of film and/or poster. Again as always (usually) its nostalgia.

I am looking at buying a skateboard, went into 2 shops yesterday, but they just are stupid shapes these days. I found one that was OK (ot of a LOT of weird ones). Maybe after tax return.

rofl1  Wow.  I've never seen the movie, but I never would've guessed that people have that opinion about it, or that people think there is some special group of skaters who love Tony Hawk.

I think you're right about the nostalgia aspect.

haha well I was only kinda exaggerating, I mean there were the more rough and ready skaters (maybe skate punks) and the cleaner trendier type. Tony Hawke was an example as he looked so squeaky clean compared to say Alva et al.
