I went to see Avengers: Endgame last night. It was a very satisfying conclusion and lots of fun. People in my showing applauded, which I've not heard before in a UK cinema.
I love that they didn't reveal everything in the trailers/promos and there were lots of big surprises and no one knew where it was going. I wish more studios would do this; the recent trailer for Pet Sematary was like an abridged version of the entire film.
I think Kevin Feige and co deserve great credit for what they have achieved from Iron Man through to Endgame. It's easy to sneer at a genre like superheros, but having a coherent strategy across 20+ films has been a great success (commercially and creatively). When I was a kid, comics/superheros were pretty niche, Marvel is now fully in the mainstream...it made me smile seeing folk of all ages and interests wearing marvel t-shirts and being genuinely excited for the film. When my kids are a little older, I'm looking forward to re-watching all the films with them.
