I get that . I really do as a huge of fan of the original show that still watches it to this day. That movie is embarrassing .
I decided to watch
Star Trek: The Motion Picture (#1) last night... and maybe with more time going by and the nostalgia, I actually enjoyed it. Some trimming could have been done on the LOONNNG drawn out shots of VGER and its cloud. Watching Sulu's open mouth reaction over and over, as the cam cut back to him, got a little tedious, after awhile, and got to be amusing, too. Persis Khambatta was good, too, and nice to look at, as well.
But overall, I liked the story, and considering it was shot in 1980, the SFX, sets, wardrobe, and of course the awesome Jerry Goldsmith score, were all top notch, imho.
As a side note... I had no idea until just now that Khambatta died of a massive heart attack, back in 1998, at age 49, let alone that she had coronary bypass surgery in 1983, at the age of 35.
