No. It was pat of the London Film Con, for the person who raised the most money for Team Fox by October 21st. The guy who organised the guest appearances had a few posters signed. Pity I never got to meet them all.

This was the logo in 1967-68:

And then this, from 1969 to sometime in 1975 when it was redesigned again (in that same year), to the one on Steve's poster, as seen above:

They were still using T-logo in the 80s , at least on 007 stuff ;)

I have been after this poster for the longest time.  This is the first time Bardot appears on a movie poster.  I am officially spending way too much money on paper this month.

Yes, they were.  ;) As was mentioned in an earlier post, the " blue T" logo was first used in 1969 and was used up thru 1982. The Transamerica line is what changed (as well as the location of the " blue T").

From 1969-75 it was this:

Then, from 1975-1982, it was this:

I can see that, Mike. Its an 'in your face' image, that's for sure.

And then somehow Thorn EMI Video was able to use it, when this came out on dvd or vhs. What year is that movie from? (not the vid release).

1981. I was told from the seller, that once the poster was released it was to be taken off and destroyed.

Looks like Thorn EMI video might have released this in the the early 80's too, Mike.

Hand Made Films was the UK based distributor, who dealt with its release in West Germany, too.

And this was interesting to read, too:

"Made at the height of the low-budget slasher film craze fueled by the success of Halloween (1978) and Friday the 13th (1980) in the early 1980s, the film has become notable for being the first from Miramax Films. Hollywood producer Harvey Weinstein, who in later years would head major companies such as The Weinstein Company, produced the film. The film is also the feature-film debut of Seinfeld's Jason Alexander as well as Fisher Stevens and Oscar winner Holly Hunter."

Deary me that is lovely!

This is the thing about this board, even though my interest is very niche oriented, I do Love seeing other examples of film art.  Especially French.

For God's sake T, keep spending fella!

 sm1  That's funny.

You know, I remember buying the great Choko book on Bardot and thinking, shit, I'll never be able to afford this shit.

Four years later, I own more than 100 of the posters pictured in the book and many more rare pieces Choko would dream of owning.  The two pieces I just posted, for instance, I never thought I'd own them, too rare, too expensive, out of reach.  But it all happens in time.  100 more posters or so and I should be done with Bardot.  Then I have to find another lady to collect, probably Monroe.  From Bardot to Monroe, it would be the perfect bridge for me to cross.

T, is that latest Bardot poster you got linen backed?

There looks to be only the faintest of fold lines, as tho it has been laying flat for a long time. And the borders look so pristine and white, too.  thumbsup.gif

It's a beauty, for sure.

THE BURNING was banned in Germany in 1987 and remains banned to this day. Our censors seriously believe they can restrict people from watching certain films when everyone can order them from other European countries. So German shops are not allowed to sell them but one can buy them legally from Holland or the UK. Makes no sense at all.

One anecdote vaguely related to this: I met a Jean Ubaud (same name as one of the producers prominently mendioned on the poster) in Hong Kong in 1992 where he ran a distribution company called Continental Film Distributors Ltd. and had lots of exploitation titles such as SS EXPERIMENT CAMP or ROBOT NINJA in his catalogue. I am not sure he was still doing cinema distribution then but he certainly did VHS tapes which he sold to rental stores in Hong Kong and Macau. In 1992 I was still studying and on an exchange programme with Macau University. Since I was also collecting VHS tapes back then and wanted some titles that he was distributing, I went to his small office in Kowloon / Hong Kong and talked to him. He sold me a couple of brand new tapes (not cheap) and I was happy. Only later did I find out that he apparently was the person behind some of the financing of THE BURNING.

Great back story, Armin.

This kind of inner info makes for terrific reading, especially when someone has just gotten a poster for the film mentioned.  thumbsup.gif

Thanks for sharing that story Armin.
I didn't know the actual film was banned. Just thought the image was banned.

Very interesting reading. Did not know films such as this one were banned In Europe. As you say, in this day and age makes no much sense.

Congratulations T, that book seems like the perfect guide. I always get all emotional when I see one of my posters  in a book ( not that it happens often though!). I assume  you have Le repos du Guerrier ( with the couple) wonderful poster. Now, between you and I - dont tell anyone - I am not a Bardot fan, but I do appreciate the thrill and artwork.

Great book.
