4F great condition, 1st release 1961, only 10 Euro. Shown with stuff around it for scale. A nice quality poster for an Italian poster... thick paper, nice printing.

10 Euros?
I mean 10 as in TEN?

I was watching that auction. I was kicking myself for not bidding after seeing the result, but I'm pleased to know it went to an APF member. Congrats!

A guilty pleasure of mine

I am happy that i am not alone loving this movie.  Its a shameless Star Wars ripoff - but i love Morricone's (synth heavy) soundtrack, and especially the super colorful Christmas-tree stars in all the space scenes :D

Haha, and i just see that they even copied the infamous "parsec" mistake of Han Solo with the tagline (i guess not on purpose):

"Light years beyond tomorrow..."

Amazing, i will hunt down a poster like this for myself!

Where do you get your facts from?!

It's not a reissue, it is printed in 1961

It's not printed in 1961, film had it's first release in 1961. It's a mistake made often, the release information does not cover the actual release in all cases. I'm with TLIR on this one. Paper and lettering are very much late sixties - seventies (have to admit though I haven't seen an original release up close). Btw I hate to say this, but EMP is not the source for the authentication of Italian posters.

Steve, I see 2 areas of other fine print on the left bottom border, under the names Horst and Buchholz.

Could you snap a couple C/U pics of that info, too, maybe?

Yeah  I have a couple Italian posters that are re-releases however it still says the date the movie was released. Italian posters are a real pain to date/authenticate, and I've certainly seen a few mistakes on EMP looking at their archive. As for this particular poster I'm not familiar enough with it to say one way or the other, but just saying it's not uncommon for the date to be misleading/wrong on Italian posters.

The "T" Transamerica logo was not around until 1968 , 1st issue had the UA hexagon/"coffin" logo.

(Beware of 007 TB locandina which has the UA coffin logo but printed by Rotolitografica , I don't think Rotolitografica started until late 60s at earliest.....it's Rotolito who printed 1st issue locandina , I've the 2sh so I know this for sure)

I am keen to know the facts on the date of this poster and learn more about dating Italian posters. It will be very interesting to learn if the date given on the poster is not as it seems. I will need convincing evidence rather than general thoughts so I'm not yet swayed from the poster evidence and EMP yet! Though I must say the paper quality and printing quality seem quite good, so I am open to it being of a later printing.

(Edit... ok, thank you very much Tang & ddilts, I'll investigate the logos)

Jeff, when I take photos of my posters, I take around 10 or 15 including all the little bits of text around the edges, artist signatures, distribution company logos reverse side etc. So I have the photos you have requested (below). Also the 2 panels look there is a slight discolouration of the lower panel, though I didn't see it when looking at it and might have been exaggerated by the flash.

Yes, great source for sure.

Looks like the poster may be between 1975 - 1982 going on the logo?

Looks like it, Steve. Another site, too, that shows the evolution of the UA logo, over the years:
