Japanese Posters
« on: September 11, 2015, 05:53:06 PM »
I just noticed that, aside from the Japanese chirashi thread, there was not an overall, specific Japanese poster thread.

A few that I have, to start.

Title (as interpreted) Germany Was Defeated This Way
It measures 21x44 inches (and was printed in 2 sections with the lower section measuring 14.75 x 21 inches).

I do not know the year of this piece, but I'm guessing the 1950's. I really like that the entire piece is hand created art.

Thanks to Armin, too, for some info and insight into this piece. thumbup
He said it could have been created for theaters in more outlying areas, away from major cities.

B2 for The Man With the Golden Gun (1974) Art by Robert McGinnis.

B1 for The Adventures of Baron Munchausen (1988)

So true, Mike.

The imagery can be sometimes more subtle yet powerful. And Im a real sucker for the beautiful calligraphy, too. Ive appreciated that, as an art form, too, since I was a kid.

Some great posters there, I love Japanese, they are my other love with Polish and Czech posters. I would like to show a few of mine. I have a couple of hundred I think somewhere - here's a few I have to hand. They are my most recent aquisitions.

Black Orpheus

The Right Stuff

ONNA NO NAKIDOKORO

Salò, or the 120 Days of Sodom

Female Convict Scorpion Jailhouse 41

For Your Eyes Only

Octopussy

Love in the Afternoon (1989 reissue)

Cabaret

Love From Hong Kong

Mondo Kane

The Trip

Will post some more when have time to dig them out or can find my pics of them. Hope you enjoy.

Beautiful, Schan.

What is the title of the last film (the one with the 2 birds on the branch)?

That one is something else.  thumbsup.gif
