Greetings!
« on: March 26, 2013, 04:06:06 PM »
Hello all!

I just discovered this site through MPC and couldn't wait to join. No one else I know collects movie paper, so this is a welcome find.

Some basics- My name is Chris and I've been collecting for over 10 years, but the last 7 has been sporadic since my son was born. Having a budget has curtailed my purchases, but its also forced me to focus on the quality of what I buy. I guess thats a good thing. Mostly, I have one sheets with a few half sheets, inserts, LC's and window cards thrown in. I don't stick to one genre or style, I just get what I like. I also collect vintage lacrosse items, mostly Syracuse related (thus my board name), ACEO's and Lunchboxes.

It's been awhile since I've posted to a message board so bear with my learning curve and I hope to have some nice chats soon.

Thank You,

Chris
Chris S.

Yes sir, out in Westvale. Where are you at?

Thanks for all the nice welcome posts! I hope to share my collection eventually, but I wasn't very good at cataloging my stuff when I started, so I'm attempting to rectify that these days. Pics will be added as I get to them.

Liverpool, a few miles away.
We should get together so I can assess the security at your place.

Security is super tight. Guard dogs, infrared motion sensors, Tiny Tim blaring if anyone sets foot on the property, etc...  ;)

With that statement I know your tastes are at least pre-90s... which bodes well :)  Always happy to have more "vintage" collectors on board! What sort of stuff do you collect?

Welcome!

Welcome!

My tastes may run pre-90, but my wallet tells me post 90. I have mostly US 1sheets, very few LC's (I like certain Sci-Fi/horror/animation cards), a couple WC's (love the size, style and the handwritten history of a specific theatre), a few inserts and daybills (I'm becoming more interested in this size), a couple half sheets (found I don't care much for the size or style), a couple 3sheets and I'm really starting to like British Quads and Polish/German/Czech posters, but haven't acquired many. Compared to many on here I have a very small collection. I guess I just collect what I like.

While I love seeing vintage posters, buying them is usually out of my reach. It does look like there's a lot of eye candy on here so that will help my cravings.

Thank you for the Welcome

Chris S.

Daybills suck, they are a terrible size and drawn by child labour!

Yeah, I'd stay away from Polish and Czech posters too... You can't even tell what movie most of them are for!

Yeah probably best to avoid Daybills, size isn't everything - unless you stumble across this site http://goo.gl/HFuKV
