Hi guys,

Pretty new on this forum, I got stuck here while looking for some help on DIY LB, so I guess Charlie is too blame. ;D
Who the fck is Joemustang65?
Belgian male (born on the 4 of July 1973), happy living together with Katja and 3 year old boy named Sue, euh no Joey.
Into beer, music (rock & Johnny C), rugby (could/should have been AF but almost no teams in Belgium), vintage cars (mustangs) , and vintage stuff in general (toys, posters , military,...) and Star Wars.
Should be joemustang66 : because my frst name being Joeri (shorted to Joe) and i started with 65 mustang, but upgraded to 66 convertible.

The poster stuff started with this woman:

This is the first poster I bought after I started working as an ATCO at Brussels airport. A colleague of mine had (and stil has) a big collection of vintage aviation poster and showed me some nice posters. The Sabena hostess stuck out , so I decided to get one of those.
The timeframe is perfect for our house (1950's) in Leuven. (YES, hometown of Stella Artois)

Some extra Sabena posters followed soon after:

Last year , we bought a Holiday home at Ostend, the Belgian Coast.
The house is built early 1900's and while restoring the house (we are trying to give it a more authentic feel, most of the original interior was saved but the bathrooms and kitchen we're eighties) , I was also on the look out to score some extra "Art Nouveau " or Ostend (Coastal) themed posters.

So when house is restored some of these posters will go there.

Last one will go to the restorer next tuesday, I will post a follow up when finished.

More posters (star wars, disney , litho ....) will follow when I have the time

Most excellent posters for a seaside holiday home. And welcome!

Very cool. Particularly like those two.
Also, how big is the background poster / how small is the foreground poster in this one???

thanks guys for the welcome and nice replies.

the SABENA poster are more or less like an OS (so 100x60cm) his little brother is 25x35cm

The Sabena tutsi dancer, I also have in another version, with blue banner, but that one is just 1 inch bigger, so didn't fit the standard frame.

And oh boy, would I like to bring this lady home.

She wandered off after the "mardi gras" party and ended up in New York.
I have tried to ship her back to Belgium but I was a bit of a hassle, so I hope I can bring her home next time we visit the USA.

Super happy with this book I got yesterday.
Out of print (dated 1992) Posters of the Belgian Coast from the collection of Roland Florizoone.
He has probably the largest private collection in Belgium.
I have been at his place once, he has some stunning posters (and that's an understatement  ;))

One picture in the book, that I really  sm1

Notice in the picture the banner of the "4é foire commerciale de Bruxelles 1923"

Most likely this :

This is one of the posters I would like to linen back myself.
They are not that scarce and most of the time not worth the LB cost.

They look great. I imagine these images would be highly sought after by people in Brussels. With those nice colors, I'd want them on my walls if I was there thumbup

Yes a few of them (on japan paper) but don't like the result, fold lines still to visible.
So they will need a rebacking in the future.
But there are not first priority.
Bought some other stuff which fits better rest of my collection, so the new ones will go to Dario soon.

You've got some splendid posters here. I particularly like that first Oostende Dover image. Delightful!

Hi Okie,
Yes I’m still around but less active on the forums (too much work)... rebuilding a Victorian holiday house in Ostend.
And yes I have a lot more posters, I need to sort them out ... I will probably only keep the really old Belle Époque ones for the house in Ostend.

I’ll try to post some extra pics..

Wow, great choices, Joe!  I really like the Dover poster, especially.  Do you have a good restorer/linen backer you use in Belgium? Best wishes, Okie
