Well, if my animated projects get some traction this year (one is being reviewed as I type this), I am going to concentrate on dethroning Ralph as the greatest poster collector ever.
I'll start by buying that BRIDE OF FRANKY teaser....
A few HANNAH daybills and a rolled PRETTY WOMAN or two -- and the man will be history.

Four main goals for 2013:

1) Try to reduce the "gee wouldn't it be nice if I could get these restored pile"

2) Try to reduce the "gee wouldn't it be nice if I could frame these pile"

3) More daybills and more noir (noir daybills being the ideal ;) )

4) Try to avoid the attack of Ari's giant Aussie Arse

Yep, same here. Need to sort out the framing pile. First up, Sideways Quad in white frame.

OK, I think I have figured out a way to start out the new year.

1 - I am going to make a list of 10 to 15 posters that I have always wanted equal to my annual expenditures from 2012.
2 - I am not going to buy any other poster off that list until I finish it (with the exception of new and unusual Stargates, Black Swans, or Portman posters).
3 - I will frame or hang each and every one of these posters (1 is a 6 sheet and one is a 3 sheet so far)
4 - I am allowed to trade or sell existing posters in my collection to get posters that are not on the list. This includes consignments.
5 - My wife has agreed to not request any of the funds saved while trying to obtain these 10 - 15 posters.
6 - What ever posters are not obtained by the end of the year will roll over into next years list.
7 - No you can't know the list, but if you are savvy I am sure you can figure it out.
8 - Wish me luck and feel free to send me free posters to get over the withdrawal.

To own 10,000 movie posters.

Just kidding.  But maybe not.

I have been trying something like this for the last year or so. I have failed. Worse than failed. To feed the addiction I have in a few cases bought posters here and there that werent on any list I had before. I am now having trouble piecing together a video of this years purchases that makes any sense at all.

Must feed that poster monkey  ;)

I'm approaching 8,000.  Just kidding, though.  10,000 is far away.  I honestly don't see myself buying more poster next year than I did this year.  The economy is getting better, people are getting richer, there is more competition and I'm getting older and cheaper.  So it will probably take me a couple of years (maybe 3) to get to 10,000.  Plus, I'm buying more relatively expensive pieces (above $1k), which slows me down a lot.  I was just looking at Mel's site, and he has a copy of the front page of my website from April 14, 2011, at which time I owned 5,442 posters.  That scared the shit out of me.  It means I bought 2,423 posters in 1 1/2 year.

So my new resolution... TO SLOW THE FUCK DOWN!!!

All be a year of changes for me.
1) going back to study and get my masters degree.
2)looks as if my ex and my daughter are moving to Melbourne.
Which means, I have less incentive to live in Sydney,
But I don't really want to live in Melbourne
Except apart from my daughter, I do have a lot of friends there.
And it's much more affordable than Sydney.
Although I could perhaps live in the country somewhere, not over here which is so far from anywhere.
However there is a family reason I need to be here for a while at least.

Also I have just been accepted into an arts program here in town, which I'd like to do, at least a semester.

Decisions.....

Wish Australia wasn't so big with nothing in between. Living out west is very isolated. S I will end up on the eat coast somewhere at some stage. I just feel like a traitor in Melbourne.

Maybe wadonga will have to do.

Is that what you guys are having to resort to now?  Don't you have a giant, mainly unpopulated desert?

It's gonna be interesting. I have done quite well as a self-employed up until now, but the word is that times are lean for self-employed advisors. Thankfully our house is renovated now.Gonna start a new concept with a former colleague which is gonna be exciting but uncertain. I sure hope I don't have to make a living with the gallery. That's gonna take a lot of fun out of it. Besides I'm afraid I'm not very good at it, I think I sold 15-20 posters this year, largely due to my complete lack of trying.
