The Year Ahead 2013
« on: December 15, 2012, 07:14:24 PM »
It would be very interesting to find out what goals/plans are for next year. Do you want to collect more/less of the same? Branch out into different countries/styles/genre. Any actors you are lacking in material. Any particular paper you are dying to get.

For me, it's pretty much the same as this year. Some more one sheets and to back another dozen or so posters. 5 of which are already in Charlie's hands. Hopefully buy no more than 20 odd posters. (Good luck you idiot!)

Anyway, I hope everyone has fruitful year in 2013!

My personal goal in 2013 is to concentrate on experiences and less on things.  Honestly, if I only bought 1 or 2 posters that would be fine with me.

Get freaking organized...  I often almost buy posters that I already have and have to double check...

I also want to move solely towards buying 1 to 3 premium items each month versus 10 to 15 mid items...

Finish off my 'Man With No Name' in some format...  Insert preferably..

Work on my Grace Kelly collection...

Finish off the premium titles for Liz.

Wife said I could have what ever is left over from my bonus this year since we did pretty good - so I may be watching for a premium Hepburn piece.

Work on my WIK collection - new fascination...

Sell off about 1000 or more posters but I have no idea how...  I wrapped up 400 to send to Bruce but I hate selling, so they sit; but I've got to de-clutter.  Ironically they aren't even the problem since they are all nicely wrapped up...

Make some killer frames from the Black Walnut and Oak stock sitting in my garage (I use to make furniture - why not frames)

Figure out what to do with the linenbacking crap - can't go pro, can't waste 700 sft forever...

Back some large format posters - 2F, 4Fs, Frenchies, I want to back my Apoc Subway...

Drink less, lose weight, play better tennis, and quit golf without regret (it fucks up my back, but I been playing for 18 years)...

Maybe go to church more...

Oh put on more weight, I'm up to 76kilos now, which is good as I got down to 54, which doesn't sit well  with my 6'1" frame. Previously I had never weighed more than 68, so who knows, maybe I'll start the apocalypse and grown an arse this year.

I don't care about 5 star posters - I've paid $100 for a Stargate...  Really this is for two reasons.  First, with all the crap I have bought I could have easily bought some of the Grace and Audrey pieces I really do want.  Second, that way my wife will stop calling it shit.  But more for the first reason...  100 fifteen dollar pieces is equal to one $1500 piece...

Really cannot go wrong with this one.  I need to do the same thing. My wife is a super devout Catholic who likes to go to church often.  And often I do not go.  I should add more church time to my personal list.

If I ever accidentally bid against you on this, please give me a heads up so I can get out of the way.  I have no interest in the Greek "evil eye" being launched against me.  ;D

Given your go-big-or-go-home approach to most things in this hobby... I'm curious to see what you come up with!

Four main goals for 2013:

1) Try to reduce the "gee wouldn't it be nice if I could get these restored pile"

2) Try to reduce the "gee wouldn't it be nice if I could frame these pile"

3) More daybills and more noir (noir daybills being the ideal ;) )

4) Try to avoid the attack of Ari's giant Aussie Arse
